Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill the following vacant posts:1. PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR
a)

About the Job.


Job holder is expected to have personal Administrative talent to support and report
directly to the Vice Chancellor to provide executive support in a one-on-one working
relationship. The Personal Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal
and external undertaking on all matters pertaining to the office of the Vice Chancellor .
The Personal Assistant also serves as a liaison to the Council and Senior Management
teams; organizes and coordinates external relations efforts; and oversees special
projects in which Vice Chancellor has directed. The Personal Assistant must be creative
with a lot of innovations and hardworking . The ideal individual must have the ability
to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal
communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a
realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Personal Assistant will have the ability
to work independently on various assignment, from conception to completion, and must
be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and
confidential matters with discretion

b) Required qualifications
i)

Holder of at least Masters degree in Public Administration, Business Administration


majoring in Corporate Management or Governace , Mass Communication and
Publicity, Busness Management or equivalent from a recognized higher learning
institution..

ii)

Superior skills in Microsoft Office ( Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and keynote)
and Adobe Acrobat.

c)

Must have very good command in English and profound writing skills
Experience: Seven (7) years working experience in similar post , three (3) of which
must have come from Senior Level in a reputable institution

d)

Duties and responsibilities:


i) Providing Personal Assistant and administrative support principally for the ViceChancellor
ii) Manage the Vice-Chancellors diary on daily basis
iii) Logging, processing and disseminating correspondence as far as the Vice Chancellors
undertaking is concerned.
iv) Drafting standard correspondence; producing letters, papers, reports and other
documentation to the highest standards of presentation;
v) Advance planning and logistical support for meetings (e.g. preparation of weekly
schedules of visits and meetings, chasing agendas, briefing papers etc);
vi) Acting as the first point of contact in the Vice-Chancellors office for all internal and
external enquires by telephone and in person. These enquiries are frequently of a
confidential and/or sensitive nature and requires understanding and discretion
vii) Responsible for arrangement of the Vice-Chancellors national and international travel
requirements including arrangement of hotel accommodation, cars/taxis as required;
managing all travel using the University approved travel providers via electronic
booking system; researching and reserving domestic and international flight
reservations; ensuring that VISAs are applied for when required.
viii) Follow up of payment of the Vice-Chancellors expenses; processing of
using the Universitys financial system.

ix) Manage the Vice-Chancellors Board room meeting


x) Manage, maintain and update the Vice-Chancellors and the Chancellors Christmas
card database for the Vice-Chancellors approval; prepare timely mailing schedule and
dispatch.
xi) Preparation of guest lists coming to the Vice Chancellor for the Vice-Chancellors
approval.
xii) Provide support to the Vice-Chancellor when high impact VIP guests are received at
the University
xiii) Reviewing communication directed to the Vice Chancellor and where appropriate
either summaring , responding , initiating , fact-finding and or referring the matter to
the appropriate University officials.
xiv) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a competent officer of the University.

HEALTH LABORATORY SCIENTIFIC OFFICER GRADE I 1 POST.

Required Qualification
Holder of Bachelor degree/Advanced Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Advanced
Diploma from a recognized Institution. Must have been registered as a Graduate Health
Laboratory Scientific Officer by competent board/authority

c)

Experience: Three (3) years working experience in similar post

d) Duties and Responsibilities

i) Organizes practical for undergraduate students.


ii) Participates in consultancy projects under close supervision of senior staff.
iii) Assists in consultancy, research and development in health field.
iv) Assists Academic staff in their research and development activities.
v) Plans and supervises maintenance of laboratory/ workshop equipments and facilities.
vi) Prepares manuscripts, laboratory practical and other relevant needs.
vii) Instructs undergraduate and postgraduate students during practical.
vii) Develops and modifies students experiments and experimental rigns in consultation with
academic members of staff.
x) Supervises and orients Technicians and Artisans in their duties.
xi) Conducts on the job training for Technicians.
xii) Guides technicians in their daily activities
Xiii) Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by ones reporting officer

LABORATORY SCIENTIST II 2 POSTS.

a) Required Qualification
Holder of Ordinary Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician (DMLT), Cty & Guilds I & II
(CGLT), DDLT (Diploma in Dental Laboratory Technology) or any other relevant Diploma
from a recognized institution.
b) Experience
Working experience of at least three (3) years in relevant field

Duties and Responsibilities


i) Carries out, independently, specified routine technical tasks, which require a higher degree
of technical knowledge and skills.
ii) Implements specified maintenance plans for laboratory facilities.
iii) Implements specified technical plans and designs connected with research, students
practical and consultancy work.
iv) Assists in students projects and practical research and consultancy work under close
supervision of laboratory engineers/scientists and academic staff
v) Performs any other duties as may be assigned by ones reporting officer.
SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER II 1 POST

a) Required Qualification
Holder of BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and must has been registered as
Professional Engineer by Engineers Registration Board.

Experience: Four (4) years working


experience after the first degree.

SENIOR SYSTEM ANALYST II RE-ADVERTISE -1 POST

a)

Required Qualification
Holder of Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Information
SystemTelecommunications, Electronics or any other relevant field.

b)

Experience: Four (4) years working experience in similar post or six years experience after
first degree.
Duties and Responsibilities

c)

i) Designing, installation, configuration, manage and maintain, University networks


infrastructure (LAN, WAN).
ii) Liaise with the ICT director and escalates incidents/problems related to University information
Systems like FIS, SARIS, LIS, HRMIS, IFMS etc.
iii) Manage the day-to-day operations of the University computers and network by monitoring
performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
iv) Install computer hardware and related application software for the purpose of maintaining safe
and effective University operation including offices, classrooms, library and computer labs.
v) Assesse and repair malfunctioning of computer hardware, printers, scanners, photocopier, UPS,
LCDandother peripheral devices from different vendors.
vi) Ensures that records of hardware facilities and equipment inventory are properly maintained
and works with vendors to assist supported activities.
vii) Trains junior IT staff/personnel on the operation of new hardware andsoftware for the purpose
of developing and updating their computer skills.
viii)Prepares a variety of written materials such as manuals, inventory control, and standard
operating procedures.
xi) Establish and maintain an inventory of items commonly required to repair computer hardware
(i.e.computer parts and supplies).
xii)Oversee service agreements including maintenance contracts and service level agreements
(SLA) with suppliers.
xiii) Ability to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and methods; leading,
guiding, and coordinating other staff.
xiv)Performs any other duties assigned by one's supervisor.
