Block 14A (lnterior Harness Connections - Early Production)

A. Locate the single white connector

taped to the harness just above the hood release

cable.

B. Carefully cut tape and mate

this white connector with the corresponding white

connector of the fog light interior harness.

CAUTION: Be sure the fog light interior harness is not tangled with the existing dash
wiring and components or you may have difficulty reaching some of the
connection points.

Block 148 (lnterior Harness Connections - Late 2000 Production)

Beginning with late 2000 MY production, the single white connector may not be present
as shown in Block 13A. ln this event you will need to perform this operation in lieu of
Block 134.

A.

Find the 6 pin blue connector affixed to a metal bracket located between the

steering column and fuse panel.

B. Remove the plastic connector housing from the white fog light interior harness.
C. lnsert this connector into the only vacant socket in the blue connector.
NOTE: After insertion, lightly tug on white wire of fog light harness to be sure terminal is

fully inserted and locked into place.

Block 15 (Final Fit & Adjustment)

Due to variability in the vehicle's manufacturing process it may be necessary to adjust
the light down on the bumper reinforcement to attain proper fog light fit within the bezel.
The steps below will aid you in determining if the lights will need adjustment and how to
perform these adjustments.

A.

Re-install bumper fascia in reverse order of removal.

B. Using the Tox head screw on the fog light, adjust light up or down to attain the best
fit within the bezel possible.

C. Step back from the vehicle and look at the gap between the bezel and the light. The
light should be centered in the bezel.

o lf the light is centered in the bezel, STOP! No additional

adjustment is

necessary. Proceed to block 16.

o lf the light is not centered

in the bezel, proceed to step "D".

D. Determine if light sits too high or too low in bezel.

Too

High: . Remove bumper fascia.

1

2. As outlined in Block 7 - Figure 2, add 1 additional shim to

both locations on both lights. This will move the light
down within the bezel.

Too

Low:

3.

Reinstall bumper fascia and verify correct fit. lf light still

appears to fit too high in bezel you may repeat the
process and add 1 additional shim. No more than 2
shims may be used.

4.

Proceed to Block 16

lf you find that the light fits too low in the bezel another
problem may be the cause. lf you encounter this concern
you will need to loosen the bumper reinforcement and shift it
upwards to improve fog light fit. See workshop manual for
this procedure.

Block 16 (Upper Fog Light Bracket Mounting)

After completing Block 15 and you are sure fog lights fit acceptably, you will need to
affix the upper mounting point of the fog light bracket. Perform the steps below:

A. Remove bumper fascia.

B.

From the backside of the bumper reinforcement, push the top of the fog light
bracket towards the front of the vehicle until it is flush with the bumper
reinforcement.

C. Using an Awl, mark the exact center location within this oval mounting hole.
D. Using a angle drill and a short 1/8" (3mm) bit, drill a pilot hole for each side of the
vehicle.

E. Final drill these same holes to 3/16" (Smm).

F. lnstall a coarse thread screw and washer into each hole and tighten.
G. Complete tightening the lower bracket mounting bolt and screw on each

side.

Block 17 (Final Fascia lnstallation)

A. lnstall bumper fascia in reverse order of removal.

B. Using the holes in the bezel as a template, mark drill locations

onto the bumper

reinforcement using a marker or paint.

C. Drillthe two locations on both sides with a 3116" (5mm) bit.

D. lnstall a bezel mounting screw at each one of the 4 points.
E. Begin tightening screws until screws start to "pull-up" on the bezel

and bumper.

NOTE: Do not over-tighten bezel screws or bezel or bumper distortion may occur.

Block 18 (Aiming Procedure)

A. Confirm proper fog light operation

by turning on headlights and fog lights. Fog lights

should operate only on low beam.

B. Park vehicle

10 feet from a clean vertical

wall. Be sure vehicle is perpendicular to

wall. (See Block 18A for Fog Light aiming diagram).

C. Measure down to the ground

from the center of the fog light. Subtract 1.5 inches

from this measurement and transfer this measurement to the wall with tape.

D. Turn on headlights and block beam by means of a shop towel or equivalent.

Caution: Headlights and Fog Lights will get very hot quickly. Do not leave covered
lights on for any extended periods.

E. Turn Tox head screw one way or the other to raise or lower the fog light beam to
correct level.

NOTE: lt may be difficult to see fog light beams if ambient light is too strong.
