Ensure the power is off. Press and hold Volume

Down. Connect the charger or computer USB cable
for approximately 8 seconds. An exclamation point
(!) will display. Release Volume Down and press the
following keys in order: Volume Up, Volume Down,
Power, Volume Down. Allow the unit to fully reset.

Press and hold the power button. Verify vibration

when power-up initiates. Wait for device to complete
booting. Note: If SIM card is missing or not read, a
screen will display SIM error The SIM card is missing
or invalid. If this screen is displayed, power the
device off and install or switch out SIM card. Follow
these steps through the setup screens:

Welcome Choose your language:

Default should be English (United States). If
not select it and tap next.
Lets start: Tap next.
Terms of Use: Tap accept.
Connect to Wi-Fi: Tap skip.
Wi-Fi Sense: Tap next.
Choose phone settings: Tap recommended.
Time and region: Tap next.
Keep your life in sync: Tap Sign in later.
Apps: It may take several minutes for
remaining Apps to load. When All the apps
have finished installing is displayed, tap
next.
Almost done: Tap next.
Thank you for choosing Nokia: Uncheck
the Join the Nokia Improvement Program
and tap next.
SD card found: Indicates the SD card has
been detected and asks if pictures and other
items should be stored on it. Tap no.
Fail Condition: Any abnormal power on/off or unit
fails to make it to home screen

Verify that there are no dark spots, lines, or flaws in

the LCD.
After 55 seconds of inactivity, the LCD should dim.
After one minute of inactivity the LCD should go
black. When the LCD goes black due to inactivity,
press Power and swipe screen up to unlock it.
Tap Home. Open Messaging. Hold the phone in
vertical position then rotate to horizontal and verify
the information displayed rotates according to
position.
Press the + symbol. Tap on the screen where it says
Type a text message. Tap every key on the
QWERTY screen to test for responsiveness. Tap
Home. Tap Messaging again. Tap the menu key.
Tap drafts. Tap list icon in the bottom center of the
screen. Tap the box by the QWERTY draft to select.
Tap the trashcan icon at the bottom of the screen.
Tap Delete. Verify No drafts. Tap Home. Tap Search.
Tap Back. Press the side Volume Down key until the
indicator in the top left of the LCD screen displays
00/10 and unit vibrates. Press the side Volume Up
key until the indicator displays 10/10. Press Volume
Down until indicator displays 05/10.
Swipe to Applications List. Scroll to and select
Settings. Scroll to and select about Windows phone.
Tap more info. Verify internal IMEI matches external
label. Tap Back twice.
Scroll to and tap Camera. Allow the camera to use
and display your location? may display. Tap Cancel.

Tap Camera icon to snap shot. Tap thumbnail image
to view picture. Verify image quality. Tap image to

recording. Tap thumbnail image. Tap white arrow to
play video. Verify video and audio quality. Insert
headset. Replay video. Verify headset audio quality.
Remove headset. Tap screen. Tap trashcan icon. Tap
delete to confirm deletion of the video. Tap Back.
Scroll to and select Settings. Tap Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is not
on tap it on. Verify Wi-Fi networks are detected. Tap
Wi-Fi Off. Tap Back.
Scroll to and select Bluetooth. Tap Bluetooth On.
Verify Bluetooth devices are detected. Tap Bluetooth
Off. Tap Back.
Press and hold the Power button until the screen
displays Slide down to power off. Slide the screen
down. Allow unit to completely power down. Remove
battery, SD card and SIM card.
