Construction at AndhraPradesh and broadly outlines the assumption made in PEB and RC
structures.

2. THE FACILITY
The present structure based on the architectural concept parts.
MAIN FACTORY BUILDING: Metal works and ware house area is ground floor PEB
structure.
The structure will be based on reactions from Vendor and foundation is as per the Soil report.
ADMIN AREA: The structure will be framed RCC structure. The superstructure is designed as
conventional beam & slab type for all areas.
UTILITY AREA: The structure will be framed RCC structure with foundations as per Soil
report.

4. GRADE OF CONCRETE & STEEL

CONCRETE: 1. MAIN FACTORY:
a .Footing, plinth beam, column

- M 25

b. All other secondary structural members

- M 25

(Lintel, sunshades, etc.)

OFFICE AREA:
a. Footing, columns and plinth beam

- M 30

b. Conventional slab and beams

- M 30

REINFORCEMENT:
Reinforcing bars grade, Fe 500 is used
STRUCTURAL STEEL:
For Structural steel works, Fy 250 grade is used.

5. DEAD LOADS
Computed self weight of structural elements
Concrete density

=25 KN/m3

Masonry work

=20 KN/m3

Floor finish

=1.0 KN/m2

False ceiling & partition walls

=2.0 KN/m2

Dead load on PEB Frame (Double skin Roof)

= 0.18KN/sqm

(Self weight of the frames are considered separately as actuals)

6. IMPOSED LOADS
IS 875 part II is followed for the loadings based on Utility of the areas.
Office area

- 3.00KN/m2

Work Shop

- 4.00KN/m2

Parts Store

- 5.00KN/m2

Lobby

- 4.00KN/m2

Utility Room

- 5.0KN/m2

Platform area

- 5.00KN/m2

Live load on PEB Frames &Purlin

-0.75 KN/ m2

Except for the user defined areas in all other areas the live load has been taken in
accordance with the IS-875 loading standard. Collateral load on the PEB frames and purlins
to be considered as 100kg/sqm for false ceiling and utility supports
Wall loading shall be as per locations shown in architectural drawings. Any future walls if
required to be provided, shall be constructed in light-weight material.

7. WIND LOADS
Wind Loads shall be as per IS 875 (part 3) 1987
Basic wind speed considered

= 50 m/sec.

Probability / Risk coefficient factor k1

=1.0

K2 shall be based on terrain category & building/structure classification.

Topography factor k3 =1.0

8. SEISMIC ZONE III, ZONE FACTOR, Z= 0.16

Seismic loads and earthquake resistant design shall be as per IS 1893 (part 1). Importance
factor I = 1.0 . Earthquake forces shall not be considered to act at the same time as wind
forces. Direction of earthquake loading and combination thereof shall be as per clause 6.3.2
of IS 1893 (part 1). In accordance with the provisions of IS-1893-2002, the building is fall
under Zone III. Accordingly the Zone factor has been chosen.
Importance factor (I)

: 1

Response reduction factor (R) : 5.0

Type of structure for PEB

:2

Type of structure for RC

:1

Damping ratio for PEB

:2%

For RC

: 5%

9. LOAD COMBINATIONS
Load combinations shall be as per IS 875 (part 5). Following being the minimum,
Factored combination
a) 1.5(DL+LL)
b) 1.2(DL+LL+WL)
c) 0.9DL+1.5WL
d) 1.2(DL+LL+EL)
e) 1.5(DL+EL)
f) 0.9DL+1.5EL
Where DL is Dead Loads
LL is Live Loads

WL is Wind Loads
EL is Seismic Loads.

10.METHOD OF DESIGN
CONCRETE:

Limit state method in accordance with IS 456:2000 for buildings.

Elastic method in accordance with IS 3370 for liquid retaining structures.

STEEL

Elastic design in accordance with IS 800-2007

11. SPECIFICATIONS AND MAKE OF MATERIALS

1. Cement

: OPC any standard manufacture as per IS. 8112 or IS. 12269 or IS

456. Any other cement as permitted by IS 456.2000

2. Reinforcement

: Reinforcing bars grade, Fe 500

12. SOFTWARE USED

STAADpro V8i
13. COVER TO REINFORCEMENT
As per IS 456-2000, Page No.18, Clause 8.2.2.1, Table 3, Moderate environment exposure
condition is considered.
Nominal cover to reinforcement depends on two factors:
1. Based on Durability Condition (As per IS 456-200, Pg.47, Table 16)
a. For Moderate Condition = 30mm
2. Based on the Requirement of 2Hrs. of Fire Resistance
(As per IS 456-200, Pg.47, Table 16A)
a. Footing = 50 mm
b. Column = 40 mm
c. Slab

= 30 mm

d. Beams

= 35 mm

The maximum value of the above two conditions is consider for design.

14. FOUNDATION SYSTEM

The support reactions from Vendor are considered for the foundation design. As per the soil
report, the SBC is considered as 250 kN/m 2 for the Isolated Footings at 1.5m below Natural
Ground level.
