Grammar 1: Present Perfect and Simple Past
1. We use the present perfect to talk about something that started in
the past and continues to the present.
Example:
Talia has been a researcher for 3 years.
This means that Talia started her job as a researcher 3 years ago and she is still a
researcher.
We use for to express the length of time.
Example:
Ive been here for 5 hours.
We use since to say when something started.
Example:
Ive been here since 8:00.
Ive been here since my boss arrived
3. We can also use the present perfect to talk about something that
happened in the indefinite past.
Example:
Remember, we do not use time expressions with the present perfect for the indefinite
past.
We do NOT say: Talia has investigated other scandals last year.
