INDIVIDUAL COURSE WORK


Summary:
In this report tried to explain my buying behavior related to the theories of
consumer behavior, that what influences me to buy a particular product like
Pepsi, hush puppy shoes and dolphin bakers Rusk. These three products have
different psychological influences in my cognitive process.

Pepsi
Pepsi is a very famous brand of PepsiCo Company which is known as a drink
for the cricket lovers in Pakistan, im a big font of cricket and I like shahid afridi
too who is a famous cricketer of Pakistan cricket team.
I frequently buy Pepsi because I like afridi , when I was young I never liked cola
drinks but when Pepsi was paired with the person I like in their advertisements,
then i started liking Pepsi even though it is a cola drink.
In this case classical conditioning has taken place where two stimuli are paired to
generate a response which is unconditional response (I like Pepsi), but after
continuous repetition of pairing Pepsi with Afridi, when Pepsi is exposed to me
alone I still generates the same response that i like to drink pepsi. This is the
psychological process that I can recognize has been processed in my cognitive
process has played a part.

Hush puppies
Im a kind of a person who likes to wear rough and comfortable shoes. in
early age of my life my father always brought BATA shoes for me but I never
liked it, because I never felt comfortable with BATA it was the case because in
schools BATA shoes was a kind of a brand which was required.
When started buying by my own, once I buy hush puppies shoes four years
back in Karachi I got reward for buying hush puppies which is the required
comfort, and it strengthen my behavior to buy hush puppies again and again. At
the back end I think the psychological process that Im engaged in is called
instrumental or operant conditioning in which reward is increasing the tendency
to purchase the same brand again, I wore this brand for long four years and still
it is comfortable and in shape to wear it. While wearing Hush puppy shoe I can
come to IBA also I can go to party events and it does not bother me even in
summer I can wear it anywhere, thats why I guess I brought hush puppies shoe
again last week and I have become a loyal customer of Hush puppies because it
provides me with the reward of feeling comfortable.

Dolphin bakers Rusk


From last decade I have been continuously buying Rusk from the same
store dolphin bakers but I can't exactly recognize, why I do this? I even don't
like to eat Rusk in breakfast still I eat husks because I don't have any other
option to eat in breakfast.
The only reason that I can identify in my buying behavior is the pressure of
my family because my father has been ordering since my childhood to buy the
same product (Rusk of dolphin bakers) everyone including my parents and four
brothers like that Rusk of dolphin bakers in breakfast so, to be the part of my
family and specially to be brother I also eat the same breakfast.
This is called peer pressure in consumer behavior theories my brothers are my
friends and they are my peers to be included in them and to have breakfast
among them in a chill boys environment I also eat the same breakfast, I cannot
change the behavior of the whole group but to be a part of them I also use the
product that I don't like very much.

Reasoning:
Im a lover and loyal customer of Pepsi and hush puppies as far as rusks are
concern I buy it due to peer pressure, Pepsi gives me the confidence to play
cricket like a champion and Hush puppies shoes are the most comfortable and
rewarding shoes brand I have ever experienced.
