INTRODUCTORY RITES
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
All: Amen.

Priest: The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of
God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
All: And also with you.
Priest: We are gathered here today for a very happy occasion; two
members of our Christian community will be united in the Holy
Sacrament of Matrimony. Dearly beloved Dan & Danica, God is love
and in some mystifying ways has drawn you together in His love,
for the love to grow. The Lord will help you forge a future for your
love, if you both share in the commitment, to love and honor one
another in good times and bad, in poverty and plenty, in sickness
and in health, for better and for worse this covenant we celebrate.
PENITENTIAL RITES
Priest: My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate
these sacred mysteries of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, let
us call to mind our sins.
(Brief Silence)

All: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and

sisters, that I have sinned through my own faults, in my
thoughts, and in my words, in what I have done and in what
I have failed to do so. And I ask the Blessed Mary, ever
Virgin, all the angels and saints and to you my brothers and
sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Priest: May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and
bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen
Choir: Lord have Mercy (to be sung)
Priest: Glory to God in the highest.
Choir/All:
Glory to God in the highest
And peace to His people on earth
Lord God, Heavenly King, Almighty God and Father
We worship You
4

We give You thanks

We praise You for Your glory
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father
Lord God, Lamb of God
You take away the sins of the world
Lord, have mercy on us
You are seated at the right hand of the Father
Receive our prayer
For You alone are the Holy One
For You alone are the Lord
For You alone are the Most High
Jesus Christ
With the Holy Spirit
In the glory of God the Father
Amen
Priest: Let us pray: Almighty God, hear our prayers for Dan & Danica
who have come here today to be united in the Sacrament of
Marriage. Increase their faith in You and in each other as they
pledge their love today. May their lives always bear witness to the
reality of that love. We ask this through Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives, and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever
and ever
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please be seated and listen to the Word of God.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading
From the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians (12:31-13:13)
Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the
most excellent way. 1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels,
but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging
cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries
and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains,
but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the
5

poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do
not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does
not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor
others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies,
they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where
there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we
prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part
disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like
a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the
ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as
in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then
I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13 And now these three
remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
This is the Word of the Lord
All: Thanks be to God
RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 145)
Let our response be: I will proclaim your greatness, my God
and King; I will thank You forever and ever.
1 I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king;
I will thank you forever and ever.
Every day I will thank you;
I will praise you forever and ever.
The Lord is great and is to be highly praised;
his greatness is beyond understanding. Response.
2 What you have done will be praised from one generation to the
next; they will proclaim your mighty acts.
They will speak of your glory and majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds. Response.
3 People will speak of your mighty deeds,
and I will proclaim your greatness.
They will tell about all your goodness
and sing about your kindness.
Response.
4 The Lord is loving and merciful,
slow to become angry and full of constant love.
6

He is good to everyone
and has compassion on all he made.
Response.
5 All your creatures, Lord, will praise you,
and all your people will give you thanks.
They will speak of the glory of your royal power
and tell of your might,
so that everyone will know your mighty deeds
and the glorious majesty of your kingdom. Response.
Second Reading
From the Letter to the Hebrews (13:1-8)
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget
to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have
shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. 3 Continue to
remember those in prison as if you were together with them in
prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were
suffering. 4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage
bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually
immoral. 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be
content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I
leave you;
never will I forsake you.
6
So we say with confidence,
The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
7
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God
Commentator: He who lives in love lives in God and God in him.
Please rise to honor the holy Gospel.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Choir: Alleluia, Alleluia (to be sung)
Priest: the Lord be with you
All: And also with you!
Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John.
7

All: Glory to You, Lord Jesus Christ!

Priest: (John 15:9-13) Jesus said to His disciples, As the father has
loved me, so I have loved you. Live on with my love. You will
live in my love if you keep my commandments, even as I have
kept my Fathers commandments and live in His love. All this
I tell you so that my joy maybe yours and your joy may be
complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I
have loved you.
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ!
Commentator: Please be seated for the homily.
HOMILY
Commentator: Please remain seated for the marriage rites.
RITE OF MARRIAGE
Lighting of the Nuptial Candles
Commentator: May we request the candle sponsors to light the
wedding candles.
The candle symbolizes the two separate lives
enlightened by Gods Word. The flame is the symbol of
Christ who is the light of the world and of Gods
presence from whom we can obtain abiding light and
warmth, wisdom, and love, hope and life, now and
forever.
After the candles has been lighted, the priest and the principal sponsors will stand,
all the rest will remain seated.

Commentator: All please rise.
Apostles Creed
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, He rose again.
He ascended to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the
Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

The offerers of the candles, flowers, fruits & bounties, and the bread & wine may
now proceed to bring in these gifts to the altar.

VEIL & CORD CEREMONY

Commentator: May I request the veil sponsors to place the veil
upon the couple.
The veil symbolizes unity and oneness. Dan & Danica, at
baptism you were clothed with the white garment,
symbolizing the new life of purity and happiness with
the Lord, to which the Risen Christ has called you. We
clothe you gain today, with this symbolic garment as
13

you enter into a new phase of your life with God. May
the Lord keep you away from harm, keep your hearts
chaste and pure, and let the joy of the Holy Spirit shine
forth through all your children, and everyone whom the
Lords loving desire will bring to your life.
After the veil has been placed (on the head of the wife and the shoulder of the
husband)

Commentator: May I now request the cord sponsors to please place

the cord upon the couple.
The cord symbolizes the love of God- the yoke which
binds you together and help carry each others yoke,
with faithfulness and trust. May it remind you forever of
your marriage, both lifes joy and sorrows shared as one.
May you always support each other and together
courageously face the responsibilities as husband and
wife.

and work of our human hands. It will become our
spiritual drink.

All

: Blessed be God forever!

Priest

By this Sacrament, Your grace unifies man and woman
in an unbreakable bond of love and peace. You have
designed the chaste love of husband and wife for the
increase of the human family and of Your family born in
baptism.
You are the loving Father of the world of nature. You are
the loving Father of the new creation of grace. In
Christian marriage You bring together the two orders of
creation, natures gift of children enriches the world and
Your grace also enriches the Church.
Through Christ, the choir of angels and all the Saints
praise and worship Your glory. May our voices blend
with theirs as we join in their unending hymn.

All: (to be sung) Holy, Holy, holy Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are filled with your glory.
Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest.
15

Commentator: All please kneel.

Priest

: Lord, You are Holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness.

Let Your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy
so that they may become for us the body and blood of
our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Before He was given up to death, the death He freely
accepted, He took the bread and give You thanks. He
broke the bread, gave it to His disciples and said:
TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU AND EAT IT. THIS IS MY BODY
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
When supper was ended, He took the cup. Again, He
gave You thanks and praise, gave the cup to His
disciples and said:
TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT. THIS IS
THE CUP OF MY BLOOD. THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND
EVERLASTING COVENANT. IT WILL BE SHED FOR YOU
AND FOR ALL MEN SO THAT SINS MAY BE FORGIVEN. DO
THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

Priest

Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank
You for counting us worthy to stand in Your presence and
serve You. May all of us who share in the Body and
Blood of Christ, be brought together in unity by the Holy
Spirit.
Lord, remember Your Church throughout the world,
make us grow in love together with Benedict, our Pope,
John, our bishop and all our clergy. Remember our
brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the
hope of rising again. Bring them and all the departed
into the light of Your presence.
Have mercy on us all. Make us worthy to share eternal
life with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, with the
Apostles and with all the Saints who have done Your will

16

throughput the ages. May we praise You in union with

them and give You glory through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
