How much is the program fee?

all over the world. Each opportunity has been carefully curated to ensure that what you get out of the
experience isnt just a paycheck, but an enlightened perspecJve on world.

You will have the chance to learn new skills, understand how businesses operate in dierent parts of the
world, and get direct interacJon with cultures dierence from your own. Since these paid posiJons are
oered under a cultural exchange program, there is a program fee; however, it may be recovered upon
compleJon of your employment term.


could the program fee be reimbursed?
How
As a non-resident of Australia, you are eligible for a refund on some income taxes paid during your
employment term. In some cases, this refund is in excess of the iniJal program fee. TaxBack will help
facilitate this refund for you.

How much money can I get back with the Tax Refund?
The example below is based on the minimum wage and minimum hours per week of the posiJons we place
parJcipants in. In most cases, hourly wage and hours per week exceed the example below.

Minimum Salary: $16.52/hr (32-hour work week)

If you are a student, young professional, or adventurous traveler seeking a fun, exciJng, and unique
way to gain internaJonal experience while developing a career in the culinary arts, hospitality
management, or tourism and travel industry, Work Experience Australia is for you.
This program oers paid posiJons with well-respected luxury resorts, restaurants, and tourist
desJnaJons across Australia. Since the posiJons are oered under a cultural exchange program, we
will make sure you get the most out of your experience abroad: enjoy specialized events, excursions,
and cultural informaJon.
If you want a less structured program and are considering a backpackers working holiday journey
across Australia, our Freestyle Australia package is for you. We provide you with accommodaJon for
your arrival, local support, and all the resources you need to nd casual jobs across Australia.


Where
will I be working

Based on your qualicaJons and the season, youll be placed in one of the high-end, luxury resorts or
tourist desJnaJons in Australia. Perhaps youll get to enjoy the colorful marine life adjacent to the
Great Barrier Reef or nd yourself in the modern and sophisJcated city of Darwin. Are you an
adventurous explorer? Consider the indigenous outback of Uluru or the breathtaking lush landscape of
Tasmania.

Is housing included?
Room and board varies based on the locaJon and property you select. For many of our resort
opportuniJes, low-cost on-site housing is available. AlternaJvely, if room and board is not supplied, we
will assist you in nding safe and aordable housing nearby. If your choice is to go freestyle, youll be
responsible for nding and providing your own housing.

Will my Visa allow me to travel around Australia?

If you are granted a Work & Holiday visa you can:
Enter Australia at any Jme within 12 months of the visa grant date
Stay in Australia for up to 12 months from the date of rst entry
Leave and re-enter Australia any number of Jmes from the 12 months from the date of rst entry
Undertake temporary employment in Australia for up to six months with each employer
Study for up to four months

Who can Apply?

To be considered for these posiJons, you must:
Be between the ages of 18 to 30 with a valid passport
Have a high school diploma (or equivalent qualicaJon)
Have not previously entered Australia on a Working Holiday (417) or Work & Holiday (462) visa
Have related experience and/or training in the food service, hospitality, and/or travel industry
Must be a ciJzen of one of the following: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, ArgenJna,
Bangladesh, Belgium, Chile, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong
Kong, Republic of Ireland, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands,
Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, or Turkey.
Please keep in mind that InternaJonal Services does not set visa regulaJons; those requirements are
enforced by the respecJve countries.

How do I apply?

When you apply for a posiJon through the Work Experience Australia program, you will be asked to pay
a deposit. Once submined, a program advisor will contact you to answer any quesJons, discuss your
program in detail, and begin seong up interviews. Of course, we will coach you along the way so you can
make your best impression with potenJal employers. Payment in full is due within 30 days aper
submission of your program applicaJon, whichever occurs earlier. We will conJnue to assist you through
the process of obtaining your visa, planning your trip, and making sure you have everything you need
prior to departure. If you select the freestyle opJon, payment is due upfront.
You will be asked to provide your ight number, arrival dates, and other informaJon.

I am not in school or have a hospitality degree, can I s>ll apply?

Were looking for responsible, reliable, friendly professionals that have an interest in exploring new places
and meeJng new people. If you take pride in what you do, love to learn, and open step in to lend a hand
without being asked, then youre a great candidate! You do not need a hospitality degree or years of
experience in the food service, hospitality, and/or travel industry to apply. However, it is favorable to have
had some relatable experience that can translate into skills that you would use for one of these posiJons.
The only excepJon are culinary/chef posiJons. You will need to have relevant educaJonal and/or
professional experience to be considered

Can I sign up with a friend?

Your friend or signicant other may also enroll in the program and we will work to place you on the same
property or in one nearby. Once you each apply, well be able to provide you with more details in terms of
specic locaJon and placement. If you are choosing the freestyle package, any number of friends can go
with you. Theyll just need to purchase their own Freestyle Australia arrivals package.

Can I earn academic credit for my internship abroad?

In most cases, yes. However, many universiJes have specic rules and requirements related to programs for
which they will allow you to earn credit. We advise you to check with your academic counselor in order to
understand those requirements. We can work with you to tailor your internship in order to meet your needs.

When I interview with an employer, how will the interview be set up?
The interviews are conducted on Skype, so you can interview from anywhere in the world.

When can I start?

PosiJons are available throughout the year. Its a good idea to send your applicaJon 2 to 3 months
before when you would like to travel, but if you complete the registraJon process quickly, we can nd a
placement within a week in some cases!
The busy seasons in Australia begin in March and October, so there are a lot of posiJons available with
start dates during these months.
