This week we are learning:

Locations: Town & Country

Circle Time Review


This week in circle time we will
continue to practice introducing each
other and discussing the weather and
the days of the week/months of the
year. Then we will go over the
animals and their young that we
learned in the previous unit. We will
sing the songs we learned over the
last two weeks and then transition by
learning about where the animals
come from and what types of food
they produce. We will read the town
mouse and country mouse book and
sing the country mouse song with
actions for the children to learn and
sing along. Review
. This week in phonics we will
review the 3 letter blends from Unit
2 and address and common errors
such as writing d and k correctly
and confusing at and ap. I will
then introduce unit 3 Short 'e'
sounds egg, ten, web, vet; 'et'
sounds jet, net, wet, pet; and
introduce 'en' sounds hen, pen;
and 'ed' sounds red, bed. We will
use reading, chanting, listening and
multiple choice exercises in the
coursebook and workbook to learn
and practice our understanding of
these sounds. We can use new
games such as Bingo and the word
tracing game to practice our writing
and understanding of key
vocabulary words, and games like
'lucky dip' to review old vocabulary
words.

Phonics

Activity Time
This week in activity time we will complete a variety of activities focusing on the
students writing, reading and speaking. We will work on the vocabulary of items in
the town and the country. We will play games, sing songs, and complete
worksheets. We will also introduce the vocabulary for a spelling test and have the
students practice handwriting in their English notebooks
Songs/videos: Old Macdonald song and Country mouse song.
Games: We will play fly swat, bowling, and matching games to work on reading
and associating vocabulary with the town and the country. We will also have
spelling races to become more familiar with writing the vocabulary.
Worksheets: We will start working on the town and country packet for this unit.
We will work on associating different animals with the types of food they produce.
We will also complete handwriting worksheets and do some work in the hand
writing booklet to work on students penmanship, focusing on the correct size and
shape of letters.
Crafts: Toilet paper roll mice.
