The following list of qualifications accredited for registration by the Board of Quantity
Surveyors Malaysia (the Board) is applicable to full-time programmes conducted at the
universities or colleges and by the awarding universities or colleges. The recognition is not
applicable to degrees obtained through part-time studies, distance learning courses, twinning
programmes, franchising arrangements and bridging schemes unless such programmes on
pathway have been specifically accredited by the Board.

The accreditation of QS degree programmes is subject to a review by the Board as and when
deemed necessary. As a basic requirement for continued accreditation, universities or colleges
shall submit to the Board through annual report information on any change in the name,
structure, syllabi, contents, entry requirements, duration, etc. of the programme.

Holders of these qualifications must possess a credit in Mathematics in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia
or O Level examinations (or other equivalent qualifications). Universities or colleges should
adhere to the entry requirements into their degree programme imposed by the Malaysian
Qualifications Agency (MQA) or local equivalent

Qualifications obtained via Advanced Entry into BQSMs accredited programmes shall be
subjected to the BQSMs Guidelines for Advanced Entry into BQSMs Accredited Degree
Programmes which is available at the Boards website or www.bqsm.gov.my upon request.

The Board has decided that from January 2002, only students admitted to the quantity
surveying courses on the current list of recognised qualifications will be eligible on graduation
to apply for registration as a Registered Graduate Quantity Surveyor with the Board without
any topping up requirement. Graduates from universities whose quantity surveying or QS
related courses are not on the list will be required to sit and pass a minimum of the subjects
consisting of the following papers in the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia Direct Final Exam
before being eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Graduate Quantity Surveyor with
the Board:-

This list will be updated from time to time. Intending students are strongly advised to check
the current status with the Board or through our web-site before applying to or accepting
offers from foreign universities for quantity surveying programme to avoid any problems later
on when seeking to register with the Board. They should seek clarification or confirmation
from the Board especially in respect of specific period or condition for accreditation of foreign
universities.

Graduates without honours degree are eligible to apply for registration as Registered
Graduate Quantity Surveyor with the Board, provided that they have completed a four-year
degree programme which includes dissertation.

Duration of accreditation / re-accreditation
IHL shall submit Annual Report and External Examiners Report and any major changes in the
syllabus, structure or mode of delivery of the programme must be highlighted to the Board
before they are implemented.
Only applicable to Associate/Member/Fellow with a basic degree qualification which is
recognised by the Board.
