the balance of the environment. In
the 1980s, its estimated that 53,
000 square miles (about the size
of 21,448,344 soccers fields) of
tropical forests were destroyed

disappear annually.

products that are harvested from
the tropical forests. If demand is
diminished, supply will decline and
logging companies will have no
reason to exist.

WHAT ON EARTH IS EXWOOD?

With a vision to develop
an eco-friendly alternative
material to wood and one
that looks, feels and shares
comparable characteristics
to timber EXWOOD was
introduced.
The two main problems
for eco-friendly, wood-

alternative products in the

past were there wasn't any
kind of material available
that shared the same
physical characteristics and
workability as timber, and it
was just too expensive to
create one.

of mechanical properties,

EXWOOD THE MATERIAL

EXWOODTM is a hybrid of engineering
composite material made from a combination
of organic fibre and post-consumer recycled
plastics. It is designed to replace timber in
its primary applications.

Presently, the technology enables the

material to be made with over 50% by weight
of organic fibre in the composite matrix.

Since the production of EXWOODTM requires

no virgin wood resource and it does not
contain any sealant or wood preservative, it
EXWOODTM can be processed using is environmentally superior.

EXWOOD ADVANTAGES

EXWOOD is weather-resistant. It absorbs very little moisture

so it will not rot in extremely wet environment. Additives can be
added to further enhance specific performances such as UV,
mildew or fungus resistance properties

EXWOOD can be recycled completely and reprocessed without

any significant deterioration in performance

EXWOOD will not support combustion and give off toxic fumes
when burned

EXWOOD profiles are dimensionally stable. Parts with close

tolerances can be reproduced reliably on commercial scales. In
addition, EXWOOD is resitant to termite attack

EXWOOD products can be coloured with integral pigment added

into the composite. Overtime, all EXWOOD colours will weather
to a lighter tone similar to natural wood

EXWOOD profiles and components can be produced as net

shape items. This eliminates unnecessary milling and fabrication costs

EXWOOD profiles can be fabricated with conventional wood

working machinery or welded using plastic hot-plate welding
machines
