Evans celebrating 10 Years of being rated AV Preeminent
June 11, 2015 The Cochran Firm, D.C. proudly announces attorney and partner Karen E. Evans
10th Anniversary of having been recommended by peers and selected by Martindale-Hubbell for their
highest possible rating: the AV Preeminent rating. Less than 1% of lawyers have achieved this
milestone.

The AV Preeminent rating is based in part on interviews with lawyers and judges and I am thankful
to them in selecting me for this distinction.
In order to be awarded an AV Preeminent rating, attorneys must be deemed to meet the "Very High"
criteria of General Ethical Standards and achieve a score of at least 4.5 out of 5 from their peers in a
variety of Legal Abilities. Attorneys are given a score of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) in the areas of Legal
Knowledge, Analytical Capabilities, Judgment, Communication Ability, and Legal Experience. Karen
Evans has achieved this exceptional rating for 10 years in a row.
About Karen E. Evans
Over her 24-plus years as a trial attorney, Karen Evans has successfully represented her clients in a
wide variety of serious litigation matters involving medical malpractice, negligence, and other personal
injuries. Between 1995 and 2000, Karen Evans successfully defended and won over of 92% of all
serious medical malpractice cases tried to jury verdict. Since 2000, she has used the combination of her
experience as a registered nurse and zealous trial advocacy skills to pursue claims on behalf of her
clients. Karen has successfully tried and settled numerous cases in the seven and eight-figure ranges.
Before law school, Karen spent seven years in the United States Air Force Nurse Corp, retiring as a
Captain, and practiced medical/surgical and intensive care nursing for 10 years after that. She began

her legal education at Texas Tech University School of Law where she was selected for Law Review.
Karen spent her first year at Texas Tech then transferred to The University of North Carolina, Chapel
Hill School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1990.
Karen is President of the Washington Bar Association and is an active member of the Trial Lawyers
Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. where she is a former President and continues to serves
on its Executive Committee. She has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America,
Super Lawyers, The Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, Top 100
Lawyers and the Washington Post, Baltimore and Washington D.C.s Top Lawyers, among other
honors.
