Home Missions/Mission Trips In 2015, we would offer one trip for each
age group. The first trips should be in an affordable range of $1,600 to
$2,000 per individual.
Suggestions:
Youth - Jamaica
Young Adult Mexico and/or Guatemala
Adult medical missions to Guatemala or Costa Rico
Silver Saints - We kick off Silver Saints Ministries, a senior citizen oriented
program at the Hoffman Estates Campus, with a Gospel Cruise featuring
traditional Gospel music by the Blackwoods or the Gaithers.
A September Labor Day celebration could include a 10 a.m. Monday service,
where we sing the old songs, hear special guest speakers and musical
artists. Community will be fostered by a communal meal, and a focus on
heritage and patriotism. Well include the Pledge of Allegiance and the
traditional tune, God Bless America.
Mens Ministry/Women Ministry/Marriage Ministry - We introduce the
Tres Dias Weekend, a three day encounter. The best explanation of this
opportunity is that it is a soul-winning, refreshing and refocusing encounter
where you are put in a place where you have to slow down enough to
experience Gods Love in the deepest way. This experience will build into
being one of most powerful ministries in your church. Your leaders and staff
will thank you for years to come for introducing this time away with God for
the rest of their lives.
MY 3 Top Weekends in my Life:
1. Getting married to my wife
2. My sons birth
3. Tres Dias Weekend
Children ministry There are endless ways to impact children, including
holding a childrens service or operating a Kids Bus Ministry.
The ideas focus on the Childrens Church Experience/Healthy Family
Experience and how it leads to growth in the church. Childrens ministry is
the most important ministry, and it is essential to ensure that it is functioning
at the highest level.
One of my favorite ideas is an annual in-reach via life groups for kids that
focus on their talents and allows the young members to connect with the
talents of adults in the church. Those adults can serve as an encourager to

Life group should last about six weeks, allowing time for participants to
connect, hone talents, and have fun.
Details on childrens ministry programming are available in my Childrens
Ministry packet.
RED Book Campaign/Challenge - Relational Evangelism in the 21 st
Century - Simply put, the concept comes from an annual focus on
developing a goal oriented culture.
Once a year, for a week or a month, the topic is Relational Evangelism,
presented in a way that puts a tool in members hands to challenge them to
get out of their comfort zone and share their faith story. Participants will
write down prayer requests and learn to share Gods salvation story, but the
program is built around the idea of the professional business card. God, our
Father, sees you put that card in your pocket and automatically,
supernaturally, you are destined to run into someone with whom you can
share your business and hand out. You put the evangelistic cards in your
purse or wallet in anticipation and expectation of running in to someone with
whom you will share that card.
The Red Book is a challenge where members are asked to carry the little red
book around for a certain amount of time with the expectation of running in
to someone with whom they will share their personal testimony. How do we
defeat the enemy with the Word of God and word of our testimony? We get
people to share what they know that which God have done in their own
lives. If prayer needs arise, participants take out the little red book and write
the prayer requests down, demonstrating a level of Christian care and
concern that many have never seen before. The door is now open for the
invitation to our awesome church!
Follow up Process Starts with Closing the Back Door/Side Door - You
want to close the back door. You have to make a strategic time and effort to

be at the back door to shake hands and hug some necks. My suggestion is
that at least once a month, after the service, be at one of the doors, along
with someone to write down prayer requests. No matter how big a church
gets, we never stop smelling like the sheep. Luke 2:52 reminds us that Jesus
grew in stature with God and man. We make time for man, but carefully and
strategically. Even big churches must find ways to act like small churches.
Assimilation can start at baptism. We need to find assimilation partners at
time of conception: spiritual mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts. Be a family.
If a visitor feels like they have a place to serve and can sign up for something
in their range of interest or giftedness, they find a sense of belonging. We
can help them find that place to serve. If not, they will go elsewhere in
pursuit of that place.
One way to help visitors and new members find their place is through
Care Teams:
Hospitality - weekly
Visitation - monthly
Intercession Prayer- weekly, with a goal of becoming daily
Meals Ministry as needed for funerals, weddings, surgery, births (this
is an excellent way to promote a small church feeling of togetherness)
Building and Grounds - every six months for Easter and Christmas
Housekeeping every six months for Easter and Christmas
