To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as
precious as ours:

2PE 1:2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

2PE 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge
of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and
precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption
in the world caused by evil desires.

2PE 1:5
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6
and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to
godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in
increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he
has been cleansed from his past sins.

2PE 1:10
Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do
these things, you will never fall, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the

on the importance of the truth
First, learning truth
gives substance to our
faith. We don’t have to
rely on our emotions,
feelings, someone else’s
word, another book, or
some empty hope.
Second, knowing the
truth stabilizes us during
times of testing.
Third, knowing the
essentials enables us to
handle the Bible
accurately.
Fourth, knowing the
truth equips us to detect
and confront error.
Fifth, knowing the truth
makes us more
confident in our Christian
walk.
Sixth, the truth gives us
a filter for screening out
fear and superstition.
James Dobson, on or before February 2, 1997, asserting what the essentials of the
truth are for those who walk in Christ, in faith
First, infallibility of the Word of God. 2 Tim. 3:16 “God breathed…”
Second, absolute deity of Christ, possessing God’s attributes of
absolute deity, but human forever. The very God who became flesh,
lost none of His Godly distinctives, abided by the Father’s will and
willingly died for us. Col. 2:9, “in Christ all the fullness of the Deity…”
Third, miraculous virgin birth without sin nature, Matthew 1:23,
“The virgin, “parthenos” shall be with child.”
Fourth, historic creation of man in adult form, Genesis 1:27, “So
God created man in His own image…”
Fifth, depravity of man, separated from God a birth, by nature w/o
goodness, Rom. 3:23, “all have sinned & fall short of the glory of God”
Sixth, the substitutionary life of Christ, 2 Cor. 5:21, He who knew
no sin became sin for us all, so that in Him we might become the
righteousness of God.”
Seventh, bodily resurrection of Christ from death, Romans 8:11,
“and if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in
you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies through his who lives in you.”
Eighth, literal return of Christ, Acts 1:11b, “This same Jesus, who
has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way
you have seen him go into heaven.“
Ninth, resurrection to eternal life to either heaven or Hell, John
3:36, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever
rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
