Course Description
This 5 day comprehensive course aims at providing participants the
necessary knowledge of auditing with respect to the OHSAS 18001
standard. To make any management system successful, auditing is a
very basic and the most important element. This intensive program
helps in the preparation of delegates for the qualification of OHSAS
18001:2007 and prepares them to conduct audits. The overall
concept of the course is to provide practical and theoretical
knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Have complete knowledge of the purpose of
Occupational Health & Safety Management System
(OHSMS) and explain the process involved in
establishing, implementing, operating,monitoring,
reviewing and improving OHSMS.
Learn the purpose, content and interrelationship of
OHSAS 18001:2007 and the legislative framework
relevant to the management system.
Effectively plan and conduct an audit of the
management and operation of an organization in
accordance with the requirements of relevant OHSAS
18001 audit criteria and ISO 19011.
Report the audit, including writing valid, factual and
value-adding nonconformity reports and undertake
audit follow-up activities, including evaluating the
effectiveness of corrective and preventive action.

Auditors upon completion of seven audits.

COURSE CONTENT
Course comprises of lectures, interactive groups and
individual workshop, case studies, role play exercises,
giving touches of real time scenarios, including the
following topics:
Purpose of an OH&S management system with
reference to the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA model)
including the principles
Processes and selected techniques used for the
assessment of risk and the significance of these in
OH&S management systems including OHSAS 18002
guidelines for Implementation
Hazard analysis and risk assessment as per OHSAS
guidelines
Applicability, criteria (e.g. OH&S legislation) against
which an OH&S audit could be performed
