Web Development Project

1.0 Introduction:
The Web development project depicts a website in which the users would be able to view the
magazines, promotional journals. There is also a section on the website dedicated for the students
wherein the user would be uploading the educational documents and other users would have capability
to download those documents. For displaying the magazine a flip viewer software would be used which
would display the magazines in a very dynamic way.

2.0 Modules/Sections:
2.1

Student Section
The students section would comprise of the following categories:

University
Course
Semester
Subject

The student section would be allowing the registered users/Students to

Upload Study material

Download study material

The students will be uploading the files/study material on the basis of the category which
they belong
Advance search functionality for the students to search for study material on the basis of
the course, year, university name, file name etc.
Report falseness of the documents
A section that will display the registered tutor and students will be able to rate them as
good, bad, great and provide feedback.

NOTE:
- The files allowed to be upload are PDF, PPT, Spreadsheet and Word
- Other Students will have the option to download for free

2.2

Promotional Journal Module

The promotional general module would allow the admin to upload the promotional
journal on the website.
The Parameters to be inputted while uploading the journal are as follows:

Start Date of promotion journal

Expiry Date of the Promotion journal

All the promotional journals inputted through this system would be displayed in the
section which would be dedicated for displaying the promotional journals.
The Existence/removal of the promotional journal in this section would be completely
based upon the parameters set by the admin at the time of uploading the journal.
NOTE:
-

Only the admin will have access to this module from the Back End
Promotional Journals cannot be downloaded

Banner Management

The banner management system will allow admin to place the banners on the website on
specially defined area.
NOTE: The banner areas would be defined by the website owner and accordingly the areas
would be defined on the website

Only admin is allowed to place the ad in the specified areas.

In this case the admin will have to perform the following for displaying the ad on the
website:

Magazine Section Module

The magazine section module will work in a way that it will allow the admin to display
the magazines on the website.
For displaying the magazine the Admin will have to do the following from the back end
of the Magazine Section:

Upload the magazine from the desktop

Set the price for the magazine subscription

The admin can add/delete the magazines displayed on the website from this magazine
section via back end.
The registered user would be able to subscribe the magazines, and the magazines
once subscribed would be there forever for the registered user.

Sales Module

This module will keep track of the sale/no of subscription which have occurred on the website.
Two people can have access to this module from the back end.
a.) Admin: Can view the sales or subscription of all the magazines that are over the websites.
b.) Magazine Publishers: Can view only the sales page of their own magazine which they had
submitted to the admin and admin uploaded them on the website.
NOTE:
Admin would be providing access to magazine publishers for viewing the sales page of their
magazine.

2.6

Payment Processing System ( PayPal Payment Gateway Integration )

Through the payment processing system the users/subscribers would be able to
subscribe the magazines of their choice.
The amount provided by the user to subscribe a magazine would be transferred to a
unique PayPal account.
The subscriber can pay using credit/debit card, Mpesa, bank transfer etc.
Admin can change the payment account or payment information.

2.7

Flip Viewer Software Integration

The website would be integrated with the flip viewer software that automatically turns
a document into an interactive magazine layout.
The modules that would be integrated with this software would be:
a. Magazine Section Module
b. Promotional Journal Module

2.8

Discount Module
The Discount module would be accessed by the admin to generate some discounted
prices/slashed prices on the selected magazines which would be displayed in the front
end.
The users would be able to avail those offers based on the discount options provided by
the admin.

2.9

Invitation Module
Registered users would be able to send invitations to their friends.
They would just be entering the email address and based upon this an invitation link
would sent to the provided email id and that user can get registered on the website.

2.10

Social Media Sharing

The Registered users would be able to share the contents of the websites using
different social media.
Social media to be included LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter

2.11

Newsletters and Publication Modules

The Newsletter and publication module will work in a way that it will allow the admin
to display the Newsletters and publications on the website.
The admin can add/delete the Newsletters and publications displayed on the website
from this section via back end.

2.12

Email Subscription Module

This module will allow the users to subscribe to the email service and they will get
notified regarding any new promotions or any new activities that the admin would
like to share with them.

2.13

Tutor Section

This section is yet to be discussed with the client but it is to be included in the Student section.
There would be a VISIBLE SPOT with a title like "FIND A TUTOR", where registered tutors will be

displayed there and students will also be allowed to VOTE for recommended tutor, and leave
feedback.
