Seismic Processing and Imaging

SeisSpace ProMAX Software Family

SeisSpace ProMAX software is a comprehensive seismic

processing system for large-volume land or marine surveys of
2D or 3D prestack and poststack data. This system combines
analysis tools, geophysical algorithms, and an optimized parallel
processing infrastructure to quickly deliver large volumes of
processed data. With SeisSpace ProMAX software, you can:
Derive greater value from your seismic data investment with
our 800+ algorithms
Increase productivity with our optimized volume-processing engine
Reduce project cycle times with our parallel I/O infrastructure
Better understand the subsurface and reservoir targets with our
modern depth-imaging algorithms and our integration with the
DecisionSpace interpretation system
The SeisSpace ProMAX software family includes ProMAX 2D,
ProMAX 3D, ProMAX 4D, ProMAX VSP, and ProMAX
Field packages.
Benefits
Understand Your Reservoir
The software allows you to leverage your understanding of the
reservoir geology to guide seismic data analysis, parameter
selection, and processing workflow design. Hundreds of our
state-of-the art algorithms facilitate construction of the optimum
seismic image of even the most difficult geologic targets. Seismic
Compare and other interactive tools help you better understand
your seismic data. Collaboration between the seismic processor
and the interpreter can improve understanding of seismic
amplitudes and images. SeisSpace ProMAX software provides
integration between processing and the DecisionSpace seismic
interpretation system, which can reduce reprocessing bottlenecks
and enhance the seismic processors contribution to the asset team.

More Value from Your Seismic Data

Our powerful flow builder and extensive algorithm suite enables
innovative parallel processing workflows, which can quickly
extract more information from your data. Our processing engine
efficiently handles even the largest acquisition volumes, whether
you are processing a modern survey or revisiting the potential of a
vintage survey.
Data Integrity in Complex Geology
Our processing tools can nondestructively remove acquisition
footprint noise and deliver precise data given todays complex
acquisition parameters. Our acquisition design tools for complex
geology help ensure that you are acquiring the right data to
image the subsurface with confidence. Our 5D interpolation
and regularization tools allow for geologically reasonable filling
in of acquisition gaps in x, y, z, offset, or azimuth space.
Production Throughput and Productivity
By leveraging the economies of scale in IT infrastructure
advancements, our high-performance computing (HPC)
processing infrastructure can maximize seismic processing
throughput with data I/O rates of several Gb per second per HPC
disk appliance. This enables you to decide your throughput simply
by configuring your CPU, network, and disk appliances.
Features
Easy-to-Use Interface
Building, executing, and managing multiple processing flows
has never been easier in a production processing environment.
Datasets and tables can be interrogated and displayed at the click
of a button, providing direct interactive display of trace data and
2D/3D/header/fold plots, as well as immediate access to other
dataset attributes, including processing history and parent flow
restoration. Graphical management of flows gives you the ability
to track job execution across all available computer resources.

Interactive Processing/Visualization
Unlike conventional processing technology, SeisSpace ProMAX
software delivers unique visualization tools that help you
understand data quality-control issues. These built for purpose
visualization tools provide the ability to navigate through data
in 3D, and interactively apply and evaluate the effects of various
processing workflows. Visualization capabilities enable rapid
viewing of terabyte volumes of prestack and poststack seismic data.

With interactive visualization tools, you can design FKK filters that
vary by azimuth, frequency, and surface location. Left image is a wave
number k versus frequency slice along a single azimuth; right image
is an all-azimuth kx versus ky slice through a specific frequency.

Full-wave 3D noise-suppression tools provide you the ability to

compare and analyze processing parameters interactively. Left
image is input data; right image is same data with noise reduction
algorithms applied.

Data Conditioning
The software includes hundreds of modules for processing goals,
such as statics, flattening, deconvolution, filtering, multiple
suppression, AVO, scaling, interpolation, and velocity analysis.
Full-Wave 3D Geophysics
In addition to the wide array of 2D and conventional 3D
algorithms, the software also delivers a series of interactive
full-wave 3D noise-suppression tools, like FKK and FXY
deconvolution, to provide advanced noise suppression.
JavaSeis Data Format
JavaSeis is a data format developed for execution in parallel
environments. It allows reading and writing to the same dataset
simultaneously by independent jobs or processes. This enables
you to easily build jobs that optimally scale across multiple nodes.
The JavaSeis format supports up to a 5D seismic data framework,
giving you the ability to:

Use single input and single output datasets for many

replica jobs across many nodes
Easily manage huge datasets
Append, add, or fix pieces of datasets
Recover from job or hardware failure without having to
rewrite the entire dataset
Interactively QC fold and header data in map, section, and
cube views as the data is processing
High-Performance Computing Environment
Infrastructure advancements include JavaSeis data support and
an enhanced trace-processing executive. These improvements in
parallel processing ensure optimal throughput in a distributed
memory Linux cluster environment. The SeisSpace infrastructure
is designed for efficient sorting, manipulation, and preparation
of data for a variety of geophysical processes. This enables you to
efficiently sort, manage, and process the multiterabyte datasets
produced from wide azimuth and multiswath acquisition methods.

Depth Imaging
The processing tool kit provided in SeisSpace ProMAX software
includes prestack and poststack time and depth-imaging
algorithms, including comprehensive Kirchhoff prestack,
poststack, 2D, and 3D tools with support for anisotropy.
The SeisSpace Depth Imaging software suite can be added
to your SeisSpace ProMAX system as an add-on set of tools
delivering advanced imaging technology, such as reverse time
migration, acoustic and elastic forward modeling, illumination
and visibility analyses, tomographic velocity updating, and full
waveform inversion.

Development Kit for Proprietary Algorithms

SeisSpace ProMAX software provides a mature, stable platform
for developing proprietary algorithms. This environment makes
it easier for energy companies, contractors, and third parties
to port and maintain proprietary technology. The standard
license includes a development kit for building and integrating
proprietary processing algorithms. One of the key highlights
of the development kit is the ability to build true 3D parallel
algorithms with FORTRAN , C, C++, or Java.
