Redundant Interface

1.2.1

Redundancy aspects in a communication system

If redundancy in a communication network shall be realized then (depending on the
customer requirements) the chosen redundant bus topology is a combination of:
Master Redundancy,
Medium Redundancy and
Slave Redundancy.
These three redundancy aspects can be independently combined together and result
in various possible bus and redundancy topologies. Each of these three parts is itself
responsible to fulfill its redundancy aspect.
A communication system which includes all of the listed redundancy aspects is called
System Redundancy and is protected against:
a failure of the communication circuit in the slave device,
a failure of the network cable,
a failure of the Communication master.

Functions and properties

1.2.2

General redundancy mechanism

A common principle for the behavior of redundant systems is the so-called Primary/
Backup principle. It means, that from a redundant communication part (master or
slave) only one of the both existing master devices and slave channels is the Primary
one and has full communication enabled. For the other, the Backup one (master device and slave channel) the communication possibilities are limited.
On a Primary sub-system:
Values (indications, measurements etc.) can be read from the slave devices,
Status information can be read from the slave devices,
Process Commands can be sent to the slave devices,
General Interrogation Commands can be sent to the slave devices
Time synchronization from the master is accepted by the slave devices,
Fault records can be read (and acknowledged) by the master from the slaves.
Parameter can be read from the slaves and written to the slave
In the Backup sub-system, the communication master normally only is able to read
values and status information for updating its internal process image so that it has the
same contents as the primary master has. Therefore it is also possible to sent General
Interrogation Commands from the Backup to the slave device.
An additional internal master-to-master communication serves the purpose of a live
status exchange between the master devices. The backup master can assume the primary master function and take over the processing load instantaneously, if any failure
occurs in the current primary system. Such behavior is called Hot Standby. This mechanism ensures short redundancy switchover times.
Another case of the redundancy is the line redundancy. Line redundancy means that
one master is connected over two lines with the device. The communication is only
carried out via one line. The master recognizes e.g. line interruptions and switches
over to the other line independently.

1.2.3

Redundancy switchover
Regarding the redundancy the device behaves passively. This means the master determines which channel is the primary and which is the backup one. There are two parameters for the redundancy in the user defined area of the mapping file.
Number of Masters:
The parameter indicates whether the communication shall be carried out with one
master via two communication channels (1) or with two maters (2).
Primary channel after startup:
The parameter indicates the primary channel after device startup. The status of the
channel will be changed if the communication is carried out via the other channel
(communication with one master) or if the command to change the primary channel
has been send (communication with two masters).

17

Functions and properties

1.2.3.1

Communication with one master

The module expects that the communication only takes place on one channel. After
the start up, this is the parameterized primary channel. But the second channel is supervised at the same time too (both channels are ready to receive). However, the master can change the channel without a previous announcement. This means the module
responds only via the channel, through which the request has been sent. At the same
time, the channel is set to be the primary one.
The module possesses a parameter (GlobalSection.SwitchTime) that specifies a duration (timer) during which any requests arriving on the backup channel shall be ignored. This timer is started when the module sends message on the primary channel.
As long as the timer is running, requests on the backup channel are ignored. If there
is a timeout before a new request is received on the primary channel, then it is assumed that there is an error on this channel. In this case requests on the backup channel are no longer ignored and there is a switch over to the backup channel.
The indication of the state of the communication is carried out via two messages. See
chapter 2.4 for the implementation of these messages.
The state of the communication is:
RAISE
By default after device start-up until at least one communication channel sends its
communication status equal CLEAR.
If both channels have sent a communication status = RAISE.
CLEAR
At least one communication channel established a communication with the master
and sent a communication status = CLEAR to the SIPROTEC System firmware.
The parameter GlobalSection.RedTime defines the time after which the error message is generated, if no communication is carried out on one of the two channels.

1.2.3.2

Communication with two masters

After the startup of the module, it sends a message containing the information specifying which channel is primary. The function type and the information number of this
message are defined by the parameterization (see Chapter 2.1). Only the backup
master is able to initiate the switch over of the channel status. To do this, it sends a
command to the module containing the defined type and information number (the
same as in the message). The change is acknowledged with a message (see above).
The table below shows the rights of the two masters:

1.3

Read and write of parameter 1

There is the possibility of changing parameters over the protocol IEC 60870-5-103.
This is carried out with the help of the generic data. It is supported:
General interrogation on Generic Data
Read the value of a single entry
Write the value of a single entry
The lists of the changeable parameter is contained in the mapping description for the
respective device. The parameters contained in this list refer to one parameter group
(group A) . If the Setting Group Change Option is enablend, then the same settings
are valid for the other groups too. The Group (in GIN) starts for parameter group B with
10, for parameter group C with 20 and for parameter group D with 30.

1.3.1

General interrogation on Generic Data

The general interrogation on generic data provides a list of all over the IEC 60870-5103 protocol changeable parameters of the device including there current setting. It is
recommended that the general interrogation on generic data initiation should be transmitted before changes are carried out.

Display of module-specific information at the SIPROTEC device

Note:
The following prerequisites are necessary for using the functionality Display of
module-specific information at the SIPROTEC device:
redundant IEC 60870-5-103 communication module (AME2 module) with firmware
SIPROTEC device firmware which supports this function, e.g.:
7SJ61, 7SJ62 and 7SJ64 device firmware from V4.70
Changing parameters for the IEC 60870-5-103 slave of the SIPROTEC device is
exclusively possible using the DIGSI 4 parameterization system (version 4.8 or
higher).
If the display of module-specific information is not supported by the firmware of the
used SIPROTEC device then the below-mentioned menu items are not offered for
selection.
Is a invalid IEC 60870-5-103 module firmware on the communication module, then the
following text is displayed in a SIPROTEC device in case of selecting the menu item
for display of module-specific information:

2.2

Protocol assignment and mapping files

Precondition

The parameterization of IEC 60870-5-103 for a SIPROTEC device requires:

selection of IEC 60870-5-103 redundancy as system interface,
selection of a mapping file which defines the allocation of the data objects of the
SIPROTEC device in the IEC 60870-5-103 messages.
Bus specific parameters have to be defined simultaneously when selecting a mapping
file (ref. to chap. 2.1).

2.2.1

Standard mappings 3-1 to 3-n

A number of standard mappings (standard mapping 3-1 to standard mapping 3-n, n =
device type dependent number of standard mappings) is available for the
SIPROTEC device types.

Adaption of the
allocation

In adaptation to the concrete installation environment the standard allocation can be

changed (ref. to chap. 2.3):
removing of data objects from the IEC 60870-5-103 points,
routing of data objects to free IEC 60870-5-103 point locations,
scaling of measured values according to the operating values of the primary
equipment.
Note:
The size of the IEC 60870-5-103 numbers (number of commands, annunciations,
measured values, metered measurands) in output or input direction is exclusively defined by the selection of a standard mapping.
The data in the IEC 60870-5-103 messages are defined in the bus mapping documentations of the individual SIPROTEC devices.

Interface selection and mapping selection in DIGSI 4.8 or higher

When entering the device MLFB (order number) to create a new SIPROTEC device
in the DIGSI 4 Manager, you are asked for the selection of IEC 60870-5-103 redundancy as system interface if the SIPROTEC device is equipped with a redundant IEC
60870-5-103 communication module.
Changing the system interface to IEC 60870-5-103 redundancy for already delivered
devices in DIGSI 4 is also possible.

Select the SIPROTEC device in your project in the DIGSI 4 Manager and use
the menu item Edit - Object properties... to open the Properties SIPROTEC 4 device dialog window (ref. to Figure 2-1).
In the property sheet Communications Modules the entry additional protocols,
see MLFB Ext. L has to be selected for 11. Systemport.
By pressing the button L: ... the dialog window Additional information is
opend which is used to enter the type of the communication module.
Please select in the dialog window Additional information:

Note:
The max. number of routable objects of an information type varies according to the
chosen mapping file.
If e.g. a measured value, not routed in the mapping file per default, shall be transferred
via IEC 60870-5-103 then first a measured value already routed has to be removed
from system interface so that the IEC 60870-5-103 point gets available.
An error message is shown if all routing possibilities of an information type are occupied and if it is nevertheless tried to route an information of this type.

Adding an
allocation

Adding an allocation requires (in addition to the identification in the system interface
column of the DIGSI 4 Configuration matrix) the definition of IEC 60870-5-103 specific parameter (e.g. function type and information number) and scaling values for
measured values (scaling of measured values ref. to chap. 2.5).
Therefore, after adding the allocation the "Object properties" dialog window which is
used to define the required parameter is opend automatically.
The function type and the information number can be selected independently of the
object type in all dialog windows. The range is provided by the mapping file.
There are additional parameters for the individual object types which are required for
the IEC 60870-5-103 protocol:

Messages:
Data Unit:
It is possible to transfer the message with ASDU 1 (Time- Tagged Message) or
ASDU 2 (Time- Taged Message with relative time)
Subject to general interrogation:
With yes this message will transmit during an general interrogation.

fixed. Values and value order of ASDU 9 however is changeable via DIGSI 4.
Function type / Info. number:
For ASDU 9 two measurand-telegrams are available:
a) function type 134, info. no. 137:
sixteen measurands (position 1 to 16 of the telegram) are predefined.
This default can be changed by either taking the measurand out off the telegram
(removing the X on the destination System interface) or by moving it into the other
telegram (changing the Function type and Info. number).
b) function type 130, info. no. 135:
no predefinition; sixteen position are available for free allocation
Position in telegram:

2.4

Signalling of communication interface error

Interface status
indications

If the SIPROTEC device is connected to the IEC 60870-5-103 network via a redundant interface then a (single) line-break does not lead to a communication interruption
between the IEC 60870-5-103 master and the IEC 60870-5-103 slave.
This line-break however must be recognized and repaired because with this line-break
the redundancy is not present any more.
Two interface status indications (Error Communication Channel 1 and Error
Communication Channel 2) are available which can be routed using DIGSI to
SIPROTEC objects (Internal single-point Annunciations/Taggings) and then evaluated via CFC or LED indications in the SIPROTEC device or transmitted to the IEC
60870-5-103 master.

Allocation in
DIGSI 4

The two interface status indications of the redundant IEC 60870-5-103 communication
module are offered additionally to the routing possibilities of the selected mapping if
an (previously created user-defined) Internal single-point Annunciations/Taggings is
routed to Source system interface using the DIGSI Configuration matrix (ref.

Routing example

Requirement:
The interface status indications shall be transferred to the supervisory control system
and a break in the RS485 line is to be indicated with a LED at the SIPROTEC device.
Solution:

Parametrization in DIGSI 4

1. Insert two user-defined Taggings in the DIGSI Configuration matrix

2. Name the inserted taggings, e.g. ComErr_1 und ComErr_2.
3. Routing of the inserted taggins in the column Source system interface:
ComErr_1 at Function type = 65535, Information Number = 1
ComErr_2 at Function type = 65535, Information Number = 2
4. Routing of the taggings at free positions in the IEC 60870-5-103 telegramm to the
IEC 60870-5-103 master in the column Destination system interface and to Destination LED.

2.5

Scaling of measured values

Measured values will be transferred via IEC 60870-5-103 between the SIPROTEC
device and the IEC 60870-5-103 master as percent values. In the SIPROTEC device
the values are available in floating-point format, as a percentage referred to the parameterized nominal values of the primary equipment. Therefore a conversion isnt
necessary.
The "Object properties" dialog window contains for measured values -besides the
property sheet "Protocol info source" or "Protocol info destination" an additional
property sheet titled "Measured value destination".

Figure 2-8

Scaling settings of a measured value

The change of the settings and with that customization to the installation-specific operating values is made by selection of one scaling index in the "Object properties" dialog window of the measured value.
Scaling index

A predefined scaling possibility (settings of Type and Threshold value) is summarized

using a scaling index.

The measurement will be only transmitted to the IEC 60870-5-103 master if the accumulated difference of the value will be exceed the threshold value (%).

Type

The measurements are transferred as percent value in the IEC 60870-5-103 protocol.
Therefore this adjusting is the same for all indices.

Note:
If after the change of the scaling a bus specific parameter is changed (e.g. IEC 608705-103 Slave address, ref. to chap. 2.2), then all scalings are reset to their defaults according to the point lists (ref. to Point lists manuals of the SIPROTEC devices) again.

2.6

Time synchronisation
For time synchronization of the SIPROTEC devices via IEC 60870-5-103 protocol
the "Source of time synchronisation" has to be configured as "Fieldbus" in DIGSI 4.

Figure 2-9

46

Source of time synchronisation

redundant IEC 60870-5-103 Communication Database

C53000-L2540-A301-1

Parametrization in DIGSI 4

Note:
If two IEC 60870-5-103 communication masters are connected, then only the primary
master can carry out the time synchronisation. The synchronisation commands from
the backup master will be ignored.

Time synchronisation monitoring

The SIPROTEC device supervises the continuous reception of time synchronisation

messages.
After the time duration of "Fault indication after:" (ref. to Figure 2-9) the fault indication
"Clock SyncError" in the SIPROTEC device is set to ON and remains ON until the
next time synchronisation message is received.
The value of Fault indication after: must be chosen greater then the synchronisation
interval by the IEC 60870-5-103 master.
Note:
The best precision is achieved if the synchronization by the IEC 60870-5-103 master
is carried out in an interval of 60 seconds.
However, other intervals are also possible.

2.7

Export of interface data

With DIGSI 4 version v4.80 or later it is possible to export the IEC 60870-5-103 interface data into a XML file.

Cable
For the wiring of the devices standardized patch cable can be used. We recommend
shielded Cat5 cable for it (at least S/UTP).
In addition we provide adapters with whose help a RS485 bus can be built up.
Note:
Cable and adapters aren't contained in the scope of supply of the module. To order it
please contact your Siemens representative.
