1.

Monitor vibration parameters (see key at left). When one or more

parameters are red follow steps below.

2.

Determine vibration scenario using traffic light combinations at left.

3.

While on bottom & without delay, modify RPM and/or SWOB accordingly.

4.

Monitor results, if vibration persists, make further adjustments according

to step #3.

5.

Monitor, if vibration persists, pick up off bottom and stop rotary for 30
seconds.

6.

Resume drilling with parameters established in step #4.

Dynamic Weight-on-Reamer &

Weight-on-Bit
An ever changing, dynamic relationship exists between the weight on bit (WOB) and the weight on reamer (WOR). As the
reamer takes too much weight, the pilot becomes in tension. This free-hanging mass is susceptible to excessive vibration
which is often inputted to it from the reamer. Also, if WOR becomes too excessive, deflection in the upper BHA causes a
bind of the reamer and the stabilizer below it. Achieving the proper balance between WOB & WOR is critical to efficient,
trouble-free drilling.
