lives
and
breathes foresight and
imagination, endowed
with an inexhaustible
creativity that seems
to run freely through
his veins, driving this
visionary to greater
and grander heights in

his craft. He has proven his worth in his more than

twenty years in the industry but most of which was in
Loki with a full launch in May 2008 at the Philippine
Fashionweek, giving fashions patrons a peek into his
creations with his Garter Collection at the MEGA Young
Designers Competition in 2006, the first Filipino to do
so. Fondly called as the Garter Guy his Garter
Collection is an innovation that is truly a great
contribution in the Fashion Industry here and abroad.
He fashions his pieces using the most ubiquitous
materials in the history of dressmakinggarter and
Sebia a patented organic fabric in a unique mix of
three fibers, Bamboo Yarn, Pia Fiber and Philippine Silk,
making him the first designer to utilize such a material
in a collection launched in a Gala Solo Show at the 2008
Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 09 and using
the textile art of weaving, almost as old as time,
playfully threading elements of the past in and out with
elements of the present to bring forth a vision of what
could very well be the future of fashion.

He weaves in his loom, in and out and in and out,

one on top of the other, climaxing into a crescendo
that is an aesthetic uniquely his own, each piece an
art work hand crafted with passion and quality
workmanship. Most of his works are treated as
wearable art pieces and has been photograph and
worn in Paris, New York, London, Italy, Spain, South
Africa, Israel, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Qatar
and elsewhere around the globe. He has done
countless styling works both in fashion and
lifestyle. Was the columnist for Entertaining Section

of My Home Magazine of MEGA Publishing Group

from 2006 to 2009, did several contributing styling
works at Depot Home, Depot Fashion, Zest-Air

MARK TAMAYO

Mark Tamayo is 23 years old. He was born and raised

in Tacloban City. Mark initially wanted to pursue interior
designing until the calling to pursue another field in
design became inevitable. His romance with clothes was
poetic and his passion rigid that he decided to hone his
skills by taking up courses in both Slim Fashion and Art
School and School of Fashion and the Arts, where he
further cultivated his aesthetic and eye for the style by
delving in venues that foster such development.
As a designer who takes inspiration from the seemingly
uncommon, he unearthed his fondness for structure,
making it one of the focal points of his aesthetic. With
the use of modern-day architecture as reference, and
being experimental in silhouettes by default, his
creation are eclectic but romantic, structured but
refined, futuristic but strives to be classic as always.
Currently an assistant designer to Randy Ortiz, one of
the most esteemed designer in the industry, Mark tries
to be singular rather than be plural in a pool of creatives
having avant-garde sensibilities by putting a meticulous
eye for detail, creating clothes that provide statement
and individuality.

to sewing down to the littlest hand details that can be

Harvic Domiguez

needed. He is the first to admit that his everyday is

nothing out of the ordinary that screams fashion
designer... He furthers the confession by alluding to his
design process, which involves quiet introspection and
mulling over ideas in a gradual fashion. Instead of
singing self-praises, the Baguio local finds more to say
about his own Igorot heritage. It is time for us to define
what it is to be truly Filipino through fashion.
On finding local inspiration: The Philippines is so rich in
color and design just look at our traditional garb and
costumes. Imagine if we used that as inspiration for all
our designs? It excites me to think of all the
possibilities.
On his exclusive design for Metro: I would like to dress
people who travel a lot. I believe that clothes should not
only look good; they should be functional.
(Metro Magazine September 2012)

There is something to be admired about Harvics

humble desposition: His design speaks volumes about
his brewing potential to be It, no self-promotion

The soft-spoken Harvic Dominguezs entrance to the

fashion industry was accidental. Ive always been into
arts, and started with painting. He went to the
University of Santo Tomas, where he studied fine arts...
(He later continued and took up business administration
majoring in management). After I graduated, I went
into events coordination. I was coordinating in one of
the fashion shows and one of the designers didnt show

up ...(having a background in the arts, I was tasked to

design. The rest is history.)
He went professional after he joined the Fashion Design
Council of the Philippines competition in 2011.
Dominguez who hails from Baguio City calls upon his
rich Igorot heritage in his designs. Believing in the need
to conserve and promote local Filipino material,
Dominguez chooses to use Cordillera fabric, but I try to
make it more modern.
Aside from the Igorot culture, he is inspired by his
beloved grandmother. She was always very stylish....
Satisfying my clients, he says readily, when asked
about his favourite aspect of the fashion industry. That,
and knowing that they are happy.... Admittedly,
Dominguez reveals that, Fashion is complicated. Its a
serious job. Its really hard work and you need to stay
true to yourself which can often be difficult. A
designer who refuses to produce anything he has not
made to the best of his ability, Dominguez is a true
designer of quality.
