SECURITY DEPARTMENT
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Hotel Lobby and Driveway
To keep a close watch on people loitering in the vicinity of the guest lift
lobby (and surrounding area). To approach all suspected undesirable
characters and politely inquire their purpose of being in the area. If they
are non-guest or merely visitors, refer them to the Reception.
To maintain peace and order in the Lobby area.
To keep a close watch on Hotel properties and guest belongings in the
vicinity of the lobby. To identify the owners of each belongings and
prevent theft of the said belongings.
To ensure that call girls and prostitutes do not enter the hotel premises
to solicit for clients.
To alert the Security Officer on duty the existence of any undesirable
person with details of his/her physical description, dress and race.
Ensure that off-duty staff or ex-staff (who was terminated due to bad
records) do not loiter or frequent the lobby area.
To ensure any lost and found items found in the Lobby area are handed
over to the Housekeeping Department and to be recorded in the Lost
and Found logbook.
To assist the Duty Manager whenever necessary on matters relevant to
Security.
To prevent unauthorized access into the luggage storage area.
To prevent unauthorized access into the car jockey counter where all
the car keys are kept.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and no vehicles causing obstruction
along the driveway.
2) Timekeeper, Staff Entrance & Receiving Bay
To control the punching in and out by employees through the time
recorder machine.

To enforce Key Control Procedures accordingly and prevent


unauthorized access to the key cabinet.
Convey outside messages to employees who are on duty by leaving a
note at the timekeeper post.
To issue relevant passes to visitors or contractors or suppliers and
record their particulars.
To log down the name of the suppliers, their company, vehicle number
and what are they bringing in or out.
To ensure that only on-duty staffs are allowed to enter hotel premises.
Off-duty staffs are not allowed to enter without permission of the
relevant Heads of Department, should permission be granted, the staff
movement should be recorded in the off-duty staff movement log book.
On-duty staff intending to leave the hotel premises e.g., going to the
bank or clinic, shall produce approval from the relevant Heads of
Department. The movement shall be recorded on the staff movement
log book.
To ensure that the daily routine relating to search of employees must be
strictly adhered to.
To ensure that all parcels or packages brought in or taken out are to be
inspected. Any item belongs to the hotel is to be confiscated and detain
the person for further questioning unless the said item is accompanied
by a written authorization from the relevant Heads of Department.
To ensure that no ex-staff enter the hotel premises without approval of
the Human Resources department.
To ensure that vehicles coming in to receiving area are properly parked
so as not to cause any congestion.
To ensure all materials delivered are properly arranged in orderly
manner so as not to block walkway and emergency exits
To stop any vehicle from entering the receiving area if the place is full.
To ensure that all visitors or contractors or suppliers who have been
issued with passes surrender the passes upon leaving the staff
entrance/exit point even going for their meal break.
To do random checks on garbage truck leaving the receiving bay area.
To prevent unauthorized access into the LPG room, generator room and
electrical rooms and ensure the doors are locked.

To close and lock the receiving bay areas after midnight and reopen in
the morning or as when required by the Hotel operations.
3) Patrolling
To patrol using the computerized Guard Patrol system, from the top
floor to basement 3 car park by staircase.
To stop unauthorized person(s) from entering guest rooms or loitering
in the corridors of guest floors. This will include the hotel staff than
those authorized to be on the floor.
To ensure all guest rooms are properly locked and secured.
To ensure that all floor pantry rooms are properly locked and secured.
To prevent any act of vandalism and attempt to damage Hotel
properties.
To record all noticeable damages of the Hotel interiors, fixtures and
furniture.
To check and ensure all fire fighting devices e.g. portable fire
extinguisher and hose reel break glass, sprinkler valves or smoke
detectors are in condition.
To ensure that all fire doors are close and the emergency staircases are
not obstructed.
To ensure all articles found the guest floor are handed over to the
Housekeeping Department and to be recorded in the Lost and Found
logbook.
To be alert at all times during patrolling for any sign or smell of smoke
or other danger signals emitting from any of the guest room.
To scrutinize all the movement of suspected prostitute, call girls or
suspicious female. If they are in the company of guest, the security
personnel must write it down in case of untoward incident.
To make sure and prevent any person, including hotel staff from
loitering in the car park except Car Jockey taking the guest car in or out.
To ensure that all function rooms and restaurants doors are locked after
business hours.
Do not enter any guest room other than for purpose of ascertaining an
emergency situation such as fire.

To collect any key left in the keyhole of guest room or found at the
corridor and return it to the Reception.
To prevent unauthorized access into offices and ensure the doors are
locked.
To prevent unauthorized access into any plant room e.g. electrical riser,
chiller room, lift motor room, pump room or any other Mechanical and
Electrical rooms and ensure the doors are locked.
To prevent unauthorized access into any store rooms and ensure the
doors are locked.
4) Car Park
To record any vehicles parked in the car park with noticeable damage
mark.
To make rounds in the car park and note down if any cars are not
properly locked.
To make sure cleanliness at parking area and environment are safety.
To prevent and alert the Security Officer on any suspicious movement,
break in / theft attempt
To prevent and alert the Security Officer on any act of vandalism
observed in the car park area
5) CCTV and Fire Control Centre
To ensure only Security personnel and other authorized person are
allowed to enter the CCTV control room.
To ensure the CCTV control room is locked at all times
To control CCTV room and make sure all the monitor in function.
To record the exact date, time and description of faulty CCTV cameras,
DVR or other associated equipment.
To prevent and alert the Security Officer on any attempt to vandalize or
damage the CCTV and its associated equipment.
To comply with the CCTV recording viewing procedure; not to entertain
any request by other staff to view unless with the permission by the
Security Manager for the purpose of assisting in an incident
investigation.

To record any incident happened at surrounding in hotel area from the


CCTV monitor then take the action.
To alert the Security Officer on any suspicious movements, dangerous
occurrence, sign of fire or smoke and any act of vandalism noticed in
the CCTV monitor.
To alert the Security Officer on detecting persons trapped in the lift.
To alert the Security Officer on any fire or fault signal emitted from the
Fire Control panel.
To prevent and alert the Security Officer on any attempt to vandalize or
damage the Fire Control panel and its associated equipment.
To monitor all location in hotel area under control and safety.
