Are you looking for a complete recording studio that not only inspires you and your potential
clients, but is completely portable and compact? You might be reluctant to take on a lease for
a commercial property on which to build your own studio space, only to have to potentially tear
it all down again a few years later or to have to leave it there? Perhaps you are tired of renting
studio space? Do you dream of working from home? Do you live in a remote location? Do you
work with schools? Are you tired of your garage studio and its poor sound? Does the cost and
hassle of building a fully fledged studio on your own fill you with dread?
Spark 1 Container Studios provides the solution; complete control and tracking rooms that offer
professional acoustic standards within a compact and portable environment.
Until now, most portable and compact recording studio set ups have been plagued with sound
issues, such as controlling the low and low-mid frequency build ups and nulls that arise in such
small spaces. Untreated sound issues like these can produce less than stellar sounds to hard
drive/tape, as well as inaccurate mixes that dont translate well into the real world.
Spark 1 Container Studios have been designed with the help of world renowned studio
designer, John L Sayers to combat the above mentioned issues and are built into 20 shipping
containers. The fundamental design principle of the studios is that they are rooms floating
within rooms. The decoupling of the inside room from the outside structure, in combination
with the amount and the variety of material used for absorption, assists in creating the ultimate
in sound-proofing. The inside acoustic treatment uses a combination of bass traps, low-mid
narrow band absorbers, (specifically designed for the rooms dimensions), and high frequency
absorbers to create a close as possible acoustically flat recording space.

Technical Advantages
We have used narrow band absorbers, designed specifically for the containers dimensions
(Helmholz resonators). These absorbers passively resonate and absorb many of the low mid
problems ordinarily found working within square/small and untreated rooms. Acoustic guitars will
sing, due to the decrease in such resonant frequencies. Resonant frequencies can be a major
drawback in trying to achieve professional recording standards, within the standard gyprocked
bedroom or living room studio, for example. With good microphone placement, you wont have
to resort to the use of corrective EQ anymore, just to eradicate the usual woofy and boxy
frequency build up associated with un-treated rooms. Vocals will also have all the food groups
represented, even before any EQ or compression.

Building Details
We use 20 pallet wide high cube variety and we only use single trippers. We chose these
containers specifically for their structural integrity and their longevity. Single Trippers have been
newly built in China, then shipped once to Australia, fully loaded and left at the docklands, so
used only once. Using these containers reduces the potential risk of any rust and/or structural
issues, ensuring the longest possible shelf life for the studios-to-be. We have found that the
cheaper containers in existence, (some can be picked up for a song), are of inferior quality
and have a markedly reduced shelf life. The pallet wide high cube containers also give us the
maximum inside dimensions to work with, providing the necessary space for the large amount of
absorption material that we need.
Soundproofing is a science in itself, and we have designed the studios to provide maximum
isolation from the outside world and to prevent the inside sounds from escaping. To achieve
this we completely decouple the inside room from the outside structure and fill the space with
masses of material as well as a variety of different media for maximum absorption. Two glass
sliders, highly rated in both sound and weather resistance, provide access into the studios, and
are integral to the soundproofing. All gaps are filled with sealant to keep leakage to a minimum.
Over the years we have modified and improved the design and building of the studios to ensure
that the acoustic environment is as close to perfect as can be.
The container recording studios are perfect for people living in remote locations; for schools;
inner suburban environments and anyone looking for a professional standard studio
environment that is affordable, portable and compact. Shipping these containers to any
destination is obviously not a problem! We ship to anywhere in in the world!*

What we provide
Included in the design and building of the studio containers will also be the provision of all of the
lighting, (using your specified light fittings), all power points, (to your specifications), and it will
be star earthed to avoid any potential ground hum issues.
There will be two ports from the back: one for the electrics, and one for the multicore and video
connections. Both units will have a power box connected to the rear of the containers, with
appropriate fuses and switches. The interior colours can be to your own specifications.
*Price may vary slightly, depending on your countrys specific electrical requirements and potential regulations.

You Need
An electrician to connect the power up to a 15amp connection, as well as to earth the units via
copper rods, post delivery.
Flexi duct will be included for connection to your own air conditioning unit. You will need to
have a ducted system for fresh oxygen, as recirculated air systems will not work for an airtight
container. (We can advise on air conditioning requirements and give you approximate costs).

Delivery
Delivery is via tilt truck, shipping costs are additional but we source the best price for your location.

I have worked in Sparkys mobile

studio. Sounds great and is completely
movable. The acoustics are as good and
true as any of the many studios Ive
recorded in, in Nashville. What you hear
is what you get Im sure you know how
important that is.
Sparky is a fine engineer and that is a big
plus. His expertise in the field is second to
none. Not only that but he is very pleasant
guy to work with. Thats my experience.
All the best,
