CR MYSTERY 11..

LOGICAL CONSISTENCY 4
Some Trickier ones...
1. UNLESS and OTHERWISE
Take these questions as if.... not.
unless you work hard you won't get success
The conclusion is..you got success means you worked hard..
you worked hard then no conclusion...
2. Either OR
Either he is a fool or a moron
it means he has to be at least one of it.
He is not a fool then he must be a moron
He is not a moron then he must be a fool
He is a fool then no conclusion
He is a moron then also no conclusion...
3. Nothing can be both A and B
if its A Then not B
If its B then Not A
If its Not A then no conclusion
If its not B then also no conclusion.
4. Neither A nor B.
quite simple its not A and not B..
Keep learning..

CR Mystery 10.. LOGICAL CONSISTENCY 3..

Only Cause...
Only cause cases will be exact opposite of sufficient cause.
.
1. If effect then definitely the only cause
2.if no only cause then no effect
3.if no effect then no conclusion( it's possible that effect may not happen even after the cause ,since it's not the
sufficient)
4.if only cause then also no conclusion( since it's not the sufficient cause so thereis not a surety of effect)

She eats an ice cream only in winters..( Very intrepid)@@

she ate an ice cream it was winters
it was summers she won't eat an ice cream

N.B.1. in second case summers means no winters so only cause is not happening.
2. Be careful with 'NOT'given in the question...e.g
only if it's Monday, he won't go to watch a movie.
Here the effect is not going so if we say that no effect then it will mean that he will go.( double negative = positive)

CR MYSTERY 9.. LOGICAL CONSISTENCY 2
Always read these questions in cause and effect format which will help determine the answers..Generally in each
case there are only 2 answers possible.
1. Sufficient or Universal cause:
1. if cause then effect
2.if no cause then no conclusion( remember there are other causes also possible)
3. if Effect then no conclusion( same logic as in 2. The effect might have happened because of any sufficient cause
4. if No effect then no cause...
eg.
If he is sad, he will listen to Arijit's song..
Two answers.
1. He is sad then he will listen to Arijit's songs
2. He didn't listen to Arijit's songs then He was definitely not sad..
3. He is not sad.... no conclusion
4. He listened Arjit's songs... No conclusion
Just answer them in Cause and Effect format. it will save your time and give you unbeatable accuracy..
One more example..
If he teases the girl, he will have slippers in lunch
He teased, he had many Bata, GUCI and Aminabad slippers
He didnt have slippers then he didn't tease( off course he was content with the previous meal)@@@@@

CR Mystery 8.. LOGICAL CONSISTENCY 1... (OR IF THEN.)

. If you stay awake, your eyes will be red.
your eyes are red but did you stay awake( Not sure, there are more ways to have red eyes@@@@@@)

In simple words, there are two propositions called cause and effect.. we have to find the effect on the other with the
presence and absence of another.
.eg.
if it rains then the ground is wet
then what happens when it rains/ doesn't rain
or what happens if the ground is wet/ is not wet..
so Let's conquer it...
There are two different types of cause.
1. UNIVERSAL OR SUFFICIENT..
words like if, when, whenever, every time, each time indicate a sufficient but not the only cause..
2. only, if only, if and if only, indicate only but not sufficient
N.B. Always remember that sufficient cause doesn't mean only cause. it means there are other sufficient causes also
possible.. And only cause doesn't mean that it is a sufficient cause.. so there is not a surety that only cause will
produce the result every time..
So one more time...
Only # sufficient
Sufficient# only..

CR MYSTERY 7... Very Important.. STRONG AND WEAK ARGUMENT....

{How to be strong and weaken your weaknesses.}
STRONG ARGUMENT:
1. it is factually correct.e.g.
Reservation on certain grounds is legally valid
2. it has valid reasoning.
We can't fight with all the neighbors but can't keep tolerating terrorism with out acting as well.
3. it's not too general .
4. it's important or critical for country, society, or a section.
Government has responsibility of law and order, clean drinking water etc..
5. it's implementation will do something real good.
WEAK ARGUMENT..
1. it's flimsy and based on not a valid argument.
e.g. Solar energy is expensive( Factually incorrect)

2. it's impractical and often can't be implemented.

Everybody should get all the education free.
3. it uses extreme words.
it's the only option, can't be done with out it.. etc..
4. It's too general
All the politicians are corrupt ( we wish it were but it's not a strong argument)@@@@@
Strengthen your strength be a Gazni to your weaknesses.

CR MYSTERY 6..PARA JUMBLES are no PJs. They are serious affairs..
In Para jumbles, you have to make a story by shuffling the sentences so more than any rule, it's simple logic that
should determine the order.
Some tips to ease your task..
1. Generally, the first sentence can be an introduction, a definition,an analogy or any generic statement.
2. Though it's rare, A sentence can also start with a question.
3. Generally, The last sentence has final tone like thus, therefore that's why, finally..
4.MOST IMPORTANT: The biggest hint is given in the form of pronouns. A noun should be followed by a pronoun. So
search for all the pronouns such as He, she, it, they, them, their, those, who that, which and make pairs with other
sentences..
5. Transition words like So, therefore, also, too, however, though, although, since, because, firstly, secondly, finally,
other, on the other hand, but, instead of etc.. Indicate a change so be mindful of their position.
6.Generally, para jumble start with things in general and then move on to specific things. e.g. World economy then
Indian, then retail sector in India..
More reading and practising will familiarize you with different writing styles and your accuracy will improve
substantially.
Happy Scoring..

CR Mystery 5.. Assumption 2..

Tips to answer assumption questions..
1. An assumption is the strongest pillar of any argument. So think if the given sentence is required for the statement
or not.
2. if you negate the assumption then logically statement should become invalid.
3. 'Only' is generally avoided in Assumption questions.
4. if an instruction is given to someone then it is assumed that the person understand the instruction and knows how
to perform it.
5. Advertisements are meant to be read and it should have a desirous effect on people. if it mentions a change then
people should expect and accept that change..
6.When a notice is issued then it is assumed that people will follow it.

Happy Logicing..

CR MYSTERY 4... Assumption 1..

First of all, Let's recapitulate the basics of CR.
An argument is made of facts and conclusion. Fact or premise is the evidence and conclusion is the main point of the
argument. It is something the writer is trying to convince. An assumption is the missing logical link between a Fact
and a conclusion.. i.e.
1. There is nothing wrong with adventure sports. People are willingly taking the risk.
Assumption: If people are willingly doing something then it should not be wrong.
2. criticizing children will destroy their creativity. we shouldn't criticize them.
Assumption: we should not destroy children's creativity.
3.Driving recklessly is not a personal choice. it endangers other's lives too.
Assumption: Anything that endangers others should not be a personal choice..
4. Drinking Colas is a heath hazard. it has noting but harmful chemicals.
Assumption: Anything made exclusively of harmful chemicals should be a danger to health.
So you must have understood that an Assumption is the building block of an argument. If a statement has to be valid
and correct then assumption definitely has to be correct..
Keep practicing.

CR mystery 3.. INFERENCE.... Did you mean.....

inference is an UNKNOWN conclusion based on the KNOWN information. it's a logical deduction...you must feel that
unknown is drawn on the basis of known...e.g.
1. A boy went to his half girlfriend and said,' Aye jhumri, I lubb you.'. The girl had all the colors in karate and she beat
that boy BLACK N BLUE. Having serviced properly, The boy said, 'Should I infer that You don't wanna hang out with
such a handsome boy'....
some real serious ones.
1. The government's initiatives to remove red tape may ease business processes.
2. Given his track record, he may be elected again.
3. The cleanliness drive may reduce the number of mosquitoes as well as the cases of Dengue and Malaria..( No
mosquito= No malaria)
4. Since the company's accounts are in red, They may not go through the deal..
I hope, you are observing the transfer of weight from known to unknown... Inference is a guess. Albeit an educated
one...
So with these examples, I may infer that you will be able to infer..

Happy Inferring..
CR Mystery 2.. The game continues..
Opinions/ Judgments
Opinions are feelings about a certain thing.. Generally opinions use adjectives or strong verbs to express their
feelings..e.g.
1. We lost the world cup because of an actress.( women power).
2. Tu kuch bhi kar, kuch na hoga..
3.Beta, Tumse na ho payga..
4. Sachin is the best batsman of the world..
5. CP is the best.( off course it's an opinion but I love it.)
I believe that you have understood that opinions are feelings. They may not follow a logical path. Even with out
logic,You may feel anything. That's what we do while standing before mirror.( I am smartest or prettiest or most
intelligent).

CR Mystery 1...let's go to play school First...

1. Fact: Fact is provable.. You may check whether it's true.. e.g.
1. Pados Wala Bantu char baje tak padta hai( Though you know, what he does). It's a fact as it can be proved to be
true..
2.. Dad: (Ma is too cute to say something)Your score in Mocks are at par with the average of Mercedes.( oops! It
pinches a lot but scores and average both can be found out.
3. Someone from CP called up to inform that, In CR class, you were writing your plan to go to movie with pados wala
motu( Oh my Gosh! Can this also be proved) Unfortunately; Yes..
4. My vendor delivered 'The Hindu' last month. ( Though,I was too busy with international matters to read it)..
So Facts can always be proven.
