Introduction

I choose the novel The Railway Children by Edith

responsible / responsibility.
Evidence 1 &
First of all, the moral value of responsibility is clearly
detailed
portrayed/shown in the character of Mother. Mother takes
elaboration
care of the children. She is always at home ready to play
with the children and read to them. After Father is taken
away, she writes stories to find money to support the
family. She also tries her best to provide for the children
and she does not want her children to ask for help from
strangers.
Evidence 2 &
Next, being responsible is also shown in the character
detailed
of Bobbie. She fetches coal and lights the fire on the first
elaboration
night at their new house. She takes charge and gets her
siblings to think of a way to get their mother the things the
doctor said she must have. So, she writes a letter to the
Old Gentleman asking for the things for her Mother. She
takes care of her brother and sister whenever they go. She
stays with the injured boy, Jim, in the tunnel and tries to
make him comfortable by putting her petticoat under his
broken leg. Lastly, she writes to the Old Gentleman asking
him to investigate about her father.
Evidence 3 &
In addition, the Old Gentleman also shows the moral
detailed
value of responsibility. He helps the children by sending
evidence
them all the things that they ask for and some extra things
that they do not ask. He visits his grandson Jim, the injured
boy in the red shirt, at the childrens house. He also sends
a maid and a cook to help the childrens mother when Jim
