Problem description

Target audience

The Newford City University currently has a members only website for its students where each student can view the latest news. The website is powered by
Wordpress using a MySQL database.

Main users of the website will be existing Newford City University students with
membership numbers already assigned to them.

Periodically, a number of student elections are held where interested participants

can select to participate.

Project Budget: $30,000

Deadline: 03/09/2015

Interested student apply for participation and other students can then cast their
vote in a ballot.

What determines success and failure

Currently, the students are not able to participate in council elections online and
instead have to come to a voting booth to cast their vote.

In a success scenario, we have a website that students can use to log in, read
news and participate in elections.

This means not all students can participate in the voting.

In a failure scenario such a website is not available by the given deadline.

The proposed solution

We are planning to build a new website for the students that will enable them to
read news and participate in ballots.
The website should be easier to use than the existing one and should work well
on computers and mobile phones.
It should be easy for the university staff to manage the website contents and
overlook the voting process.
