Treat your illnesses by giving sadaqah (charity).

al-Hasan al-Basri
Allah ( ) says:
"And whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will
replace it.'' (34:39)
You can never lose by giving charity. Allah subhanawa ta'ala says
when you help others Allah will help you, so when giving money to
poor Allah pays you back, not just in money as blessings come in all
forms. Happiness is more important than wealth, often you would
find the most wealthiest people depressed. Material goods can not
fulfil the essence of who we are as people. For some wealth can be
more of a test than blessing. People associate giving charity with
helping others but really it is helps us too. It can help one detach
from worldly affairs, it humbles someone to reflect on the blessings
bestowed upon them. The only thing staying with us in our graves is
our deeds and they will be our source of comfort. Sadaqah jaariyah
is a way to continue getting deeds past death, some examples are
building a well, a mosque, a school, sponsoring an orphan, teaching
someone Quran. Even an act as simple as giving someone a Quran,
is sadaqah jariyah and we should strive to do more.
"They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should spend in charity.
Say: Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents,
relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travellers in need. Whatever
good you do, God is aware of it." - The Holy Quran, 2:215
Extract from The Best Transaction by Nouman Ali Khan:
Human beings by nature we love immediate transactions, e.g. pay
for something now then receive it immediately. The only time we
like to delay transaction is why we want to receive now but pay 6
months later. As humans we like to pay late but receive
immediately, its in our nature.
Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their
properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight
in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise
[binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an.
(9:111)
In this ayah, Allah says if you give me money, you give me your life
and I will give you jannah (paradise). This is something we would
like to receive immediately, but jannah will come later and the
payments have to be made to Allah (swt) now. These payments
must be continuously made with your time, possessions, and the
way you live/dress/talk. The things you want to do but cant do

because theyre haram, with the money you cant earn because its
not the permissible way of earning money, the money you want to
spend but its not the right way to spend money, and youre
constantly holding yourself back because you are in a transaction
with Allah (swt). Every time you hold yourself back, you have to
remind yourself of what youre doing this in exchange for. However,
human nature is that if you are paying a price to earn something,
youd like to see it. All we get is a verbal confirmation from Allah
(swt). He says Ill give you jannah when there is dirt being poured on
your face, but you have to work for it now. Thats what it means to
believe and trust Allah (swt). Its easier said than done. The
disobedience to Allah (swt) is the opposite. Shaitan (satan) says Ive
got some amazing worldly pleasures for you available right now,
with a click of a button. You might get in trouble later but for now
youre fine...at least for the next 20, 30 years. He comes and offers
immediate rewards and no payments, which is tempting but not a
good deal. We are impulsive buyers, when a juicy product comes in
front of us; we just put it in the cart. We cant hold ourselves.
And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your
transaction, which you have contracted. And it is that which is the
great attainment (9:111)
Allah (swt) is saying feel congratulated over the sale you just made,
the sale of giving yourself and your money up in exchange for
jannah. Feel congratulated, everyone around you will say youre a
fool and youre missing out on life. The only one to congratulate you
is not going to be your friends; its not even going to be your family
sometimes. The only one to congratulate you will be Allah (swt).
Yet the irony is that what Allah (swt) has blessed us with for free is
greater than any infinite sum of money. A person would give up
everything for their mother. A person would give up everything for
the gift of sight. A person must appreciate their blessings before
they are taken away, one of the best ways to show appreciation is to
give.
