5th Grade Trimester 2: CHECKLIST FOR EXHIBITIONS

What you must bring:

o All interest project work


o All visual aids for all subjects and interest project
o Agendas (Consider making one LARGE one to post in the class )

What you must do for your exhibition:

INTRODUCTION
o Introduce yourself
o Welcome audience
o Pass out and review your agenda

Interest Project: (50 points) At least 10 MINUTES!


o What was your driving question?
o Why did you choose it?
o What did you learn about it?
 Tell us about each sub-topic on your outline, IN DETAIL.
 You need to use your visual aids to help explain what you learned DURING the presentation (not
after). Use WHILE you are talking.

During your exhibition, you also need to talk about each of the following subjects:
MATH: (10 points) (Must complete ALL problems)
On the day of your Exhibition, your teacher will give you the following types of problems to solve:
(Practice!)
o Solve your given long-division problem anyway you like and give a clear explanation to how you solved it. Be
prepared to solve either a 3-digit number divided by a 1-digit number, or a 3-digit number divided by a 2-digit
number.
o Solve TWO given fraction addition problems. One will be with common denominators and one will be with
uncommon denominators. You may draw fractions sticks to help you, as part of your explanation.
o Convert a given fraction to its decimal and percent value.

READING: (10 points)


o Choose a book you have completed reading from class or Book in a Bag over the trimester.
o Discuss the Conflict in your book. Explain what type of conflict is it and why you think that.
o Complete a PLOT DIAGRAM for the book. It must include the Exposition, the Rising Actions, the Climax, the
Falling Actions, and the Resolution. Make sure this is large enough for the class to see.

WRITING: (10 points)


o Write your best Slice of Life yet!
o You must have and TELL US ABOUT your:
* Lead
* Sweet Ending
and
* Details (Dialogue, Senses, Cracking Open)
o You must EDIT your work (capitals, punctuation, correct dialogue marks, spelling, etc.)
o You will turn this into me at the end of the Exhibition and it will be part of your grade.

SCIENCE: (10 points)


o Plan a demonstration of motion. Be creative.
o You must describe the motion. Include a description of speed, distance, and direction.
o Discuss the possible forces involved in the motion.

SOIAL STUDIES: (10 points)


o Discuss one new thing you learned about the slave trade. Prepare a visual to aid your explanation.
o Play your Podcast Project for the class.

STUDENTS MUST USE VISUAL AIDS FOR EACH PART OF THEIR PRESENTATIONS!!!

EXHIBITIONS MUST BE REHEARSED EXTENSIVELY AHEAD OF TIME!!!!!!!

******* IMPORTANT NOTE*******

Students are required to fulfill each part of this checklist for their exhibitions. Students MAY,
however, come see their teachers if they have an idea for presenting something other than what
is listed above. A change from this checklist MUST be approved by the teacher well in advance
of exhibitions.

Students must receive at least 80% on their presentations to pass. If they don’t pass, they will be
required to redo their presentations or parts of their presentations within one week, with or
without their parents being present.
