The Goshorns Step by Step

May 2015
April in Peru

The

Things are continuing to progress here in Peru. We had our

first Kids Club Bible study at the orphanage. We had a much
bigger turnout than expected ! Katherine and Rut , one of our
Peruvian friend did a great of kicking things off by leading the
kids in music and dancing. The kids had a blast! During the Bible
lesson, many of the kids participated with questions and
answers and we finished with snacks and a balloon fight. We
were very pleased with how the Lord used these children on the
first day of Kids Club and we look forward to seeing how the
Lord works in future Kids Clubs.

Bible studies and games. One of the studies was on the story of
the Good Samaritan. I believe this story hits home, but is a little
foreign at the same time in the communities here in Peru . Many
people do not help each other here. It is good for the kids to hear
and learn how Jesus was a servant and how He is our example
on how to live.
Jennifer is also continuing to help with a Bible study every
Monday at the women's prison. She continues to be amazed at
how the women participate. Matthew and I had the privilege of
participating in a church service in the mens prison. There are
around 2000 men in this prison. We went through eight check
points, as well as a couple of pat downs in order to get in. We
had to remove our shoe strings, belts, jackets and everything in
our pockets and leave it all behind. This made it a little hard to

trick. I now know how to dress in the future. The service was very
uplifting for us. I saw the hardened hearts of the most dangerous
men in Peru, many of whom have been there 30 years, soften and
tears flow from their eyes when I told them God loves them and
that we all sin. I told them that they have to be strong and use the
rest of their lives serving the Lord and that the next life will be what
counts.
We are getting excited about Daniel returning on May 12th and I
think he is also. We are also excited that his girlfriend Audrey will
be accompanying him. She will be rooming with Katherine for 6
months. Katherine has her room all prepared and is very excited.
We look forward to having her with us and joining us serving the
Lord.

The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: If I stop to
help this man, what will happen to me? But the good Samaritan reversed
the question: If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to

him? Martin Luther King Jr

We humbly thank you for your continued

prayers and financial support. If you havent
yet, we ask that you would prayerfully
consider financially supporting this ministry
in Peru. Without more financial partners this
ministry can not continue to grow. We love
you all and thank you for being part of Gods
work in Peru.

The Lords Protection

2Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
Some of you have heard about when Katherine, our dog Codie and I
went on a hike on the mountain behind us. We were about an 1 1/2
hours into the hike when we saw and heard a big dog about 30 yards
away rushing down the mountain toward us growling and snarling.
Our dog Codie, who is normally very gentle took off toward the dog. I
truly believe he was trying to protect us. There was a dip in the terrain
above us and both dogs disappeared in it. The next thing we heard
was a ferocious dog fight break out. Our hearts sank. With Katherine
screaming and the dogs fighting I ran as hard as I could to get to
Codie. When I got to the peak of the dip I saw the other dog yelping and running into the trees. I looked
down and Codie turned toward me, started waging his tail and began running to me ready to play. I
searched him from head to toe and back again and couldnt find a scratch on him. We then decided to head
home, and as we were hiking across the mountain we noticed the other dog following above us. This dog
continued to follow us most of the way back growling and slobbering but he never came any closer. I
watched Codie as he kept an eye on the other dog. Even with the dog following us, I had a peace about me,
knowing all was OK.
Im not sure what was wrong or what provoked this dog, but I am sure the Lord was watching over us.
When you have the Holy Spirit living in you, you experience a peace that
cant be compared with anything else. I think of Daniel in the Lions den,
Moses standing at the edge of the Red Sea, David standing before
Goliath and so many more. The peace and comfort they had to have.
Psalms says Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no
evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me. This
peace and comfort is for all of us, and we are blessed to have it. The
number one protection we have is the army of prayer warriors we have
praying. Please continue to pray, it is very powerful. And please let us
know your prayer request, we would be honored to pray for your specific needs.

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it.

My prayer this day is that we

will remember to be thankful
for Gods constant provision
and protection in our lives.
