SHARED SERVICES: OPTIMISING SUPPORT SERVICES TO ENABLE OUR GROWTH


Designing and implementing a shared services
capability for Econet is critical for future success
and growth. We are dedicated to this!

Our pathway to change started in 2014 with the launch of Cost Management initiatives and the Shared Services Project.
Post the CEOs staff address on 28th January 2015, we conducted a staff survey inquiring about how employees understood the
Shared Services Project. The feedback from the survey has been compiled:

DEMOGRAPHICS
Distribution:
70% Econet Wireless
12% Econet Services
18% Steward Bank and Steward Health

TOTAL RESPONSES: 608 employees


(70% male and 30% female)
Service Bracket:
0-5 years of service (65% of responses)

Age:
30-50 years (53%)
< 30 years (44%)

KEY FINDINGS
Confidence in support by Senior Management for shared services: 75% of employees agreed (5% disagreed)
Belief that shared services is aligned to our corporate values and strategic pillars: 74% of employees agreed (5% disagreed)
Understanding that the change is for the benefit of the business: 84% of employees agreed (3% disagreed)
Belief that shared services will benefit the individual employee: 34% of employees agreed (17% disagreed)
Employees wanting to leave the organisation because of shared services: 76% of employees disagreed (4% agreed)
Communication: 94% of employees wanted more frequent communication.

Moving beyond the difficulty of change and realising


the opportunities which change might offer, is
fundamentally a personal choice.
For example, the creation of a Shared Services model
will stimulate opportunities for our talent to multiskill, which is an existing opportunity for those who
are enthusiastic.

What have we done so far?


We have had some significant progress in the Supply Chain, PMO and Legal departments (see the Table below).
Other departments are in process in line with the agreed plans!
