To the Teacher

This workbook is designed to foster the necessary pre- requisite skills needed for the development of reading.
It is to be used in the 2nd and 3rd terms in Year 1 during the Show and Tell period. The first 5 minutes is used by
the teacher to explain the concept and prepare the children for the session and the remaining 45 minutes is for
guided group work, with 15 minutes per group.
Teachers are advised to write each childs name on the lines provided and allow him/her to trace/copy his/her
name and complete the activities. Concepts may be reinforced with the use of other manipulatives after the
activity is completed, over the one-year period.
