The Journey from Automation to Digital Workforce

As automation develops through autonomics to cognitive support we stand at the edge of a


new era: the era of the digital workforce. IT operations is shifting rapidly to a new model
populated by virtual engineers that provide autonomic IT management. Other business
processes from finance to HR will soon follow suit, embracing virtual agents. In order to
harness the full potential of these technologies we will need to re-define the roles occupied
