Knowledge Associates, of St. Johns Innovation Centre, Cambridge, UK,
has received academic accreditation by Anglia Ruskin University of their
course Knowledge Asset Management (KAM) education and
methodology.
This is a very exciting academic partnership with Anglia Ruskin
University, as it will enable more executives and students to study the
critical impact and increased competitiveness that knowledge assets
make in todays knowledge driven companies, says Ron Young, CEO and
Chief Knowledge Officer, Knowledge Associates.
Accreditation of this Knowledge Associates course at postgraduate level recognises the
importance of understanding the role and use of knowledge assets in complex decisionmaking for organisations and their leaders, says Jan Skene, Head of Degrees at Work,
Anglia Ruskin University.
The KAM Education and Methodology helps organizations to better
identify, manage, measure and apply their critical knowledge assets. It is
aimed at both large and small organizations that are knowledge
intensive, and wish to better compete in the rapidly growing global
knowledge economy.
KAM proposes a phased approach to enable both creative and structured
thinking, planning and implementation, for a knowledge and/or
innovation management project.
1. Awareness. About the benefits of knowledge asset management
and its relationships to strategic objectives as well as operational
and day-to-day issues, in the global business environment.
2. Stage 1: PLAN refers to the Knowledge Asset Management
Strategic Planning phase.
3. Stage 2: DEVELOP is the phase in which an organisation
transforms itself to a more knowledge driven company based on
Stage 1.

4. Stage 3: OPERATE is the phase in which an organisation applies

a company-wide implementation plan with a holistic approach to
Knowledge and Innovation.
5. Measurements are made throughout of the level of leveraging of
knowledge assets within a knowledge and innovation initiative

6. Training is given to the knowledge workers for the new

processes, tools and technologies, as well as the staff to take up
new knowledge-related roles.
