REQUIREMENTS OF CURRENT REGULATIONS

The Contractor will be required to comply with all Mexican Building Codes applying to civil
engineering works, insofar as these do not contradict the present list of technical
requirements.
In general, the Contractor will be required to build the structures covered by the present
contract in line with normal rules of practice.
1.

CLADDING IN GALVANISED STEEL SHEET, PREPAINTED OR NOT

1. 1

DESIGNATION OF PANELS

The panels will be made of prefabricated ribbed, galvanised steel sheet. The
profiles and colours will be selected by the Employer from the ranges offered by
suppliers.
The minimum thickness will be 0.75 mm.
1.2

DESCRIPTION OF CLADDING

For applications in an industrial environment the ribbed plates will receive a zinc
coating of nominal density more than 300 g/m on both sides, possibly ranging up to
600 g/m on both sides.
The corrosion resistance of accessories and fastenings will be identical with that of
the panels.
The hot galvanised fastenings will receive a zinc coating of 2 g/dm.
There must be no contact between the panels and any copper, or oak, chestnut or
cedar wood.
The cladding will be proof against the air, dust and powder snow; an appropriate
seal arrangement will be provided at transverse and longitudinal overlaps.
The mastic used will preferably be extrudable for gun application.
The foot of the cladding will overlap the bottom wall by at least 20 cm, all gaps being
blanked off by suitable seals.
At the top of the cladding, all necessary sealing arrangements will be made by
means of membranes and coping pieces.
The lateral edges will be attached by means of edge brackets.
The cladding corners will be finished by means of cladding angle pieces
independently attached.
The cladding will be attached to the structure by means of lateral edge strips or
cladding joints with a bitumen foam seal introduced between the structure and the
seals during installation.

FASTENINGS
- The galvanised steel sheet cladding will be attached to the main framework
of the building by means of a secondary frame usually consisting of
horizontal commercial metal beams (H, I, U, L) with a minimum web of 100
mm.
The distance between the horizontal beams depends upon the wind
resistance, and determines the lengths of the panels, allowing for the height
of overlap.
- The panels will be attached either by hook bolts in steel wire galvanised
after threading (or stainless steel) with a minimum diameter of 6 mm, or by
self-tapping screws in electrolytically zinc-coated or bichromate cadmium
plated steel (or stainless steel) at least 6 mm in diameter.
- tubular waterproof rivets will be allowed only for attaching seams.
- the ties will have a minimum diameter of 12 mm.
- expanding plugs must not be positioned closer than 10 cm to a concrete
edge.
