April 26, 2015 Afternoon Update

During yesterdays protest, 31 adult and four juvenile arrests were made. The
vast majority of the protestors yesterday were peaceful and calm. Groups of
outside agitators led to small pockets of protestors engaged in criminal activity.
They face various charges and their information is below. While the vast
majority of arrests reflect local residency, the total number of arrests does not
account for every incident of criminal activity. The Baltimore Police
Department believes that outside agitators continue to be the instigators
behind acts of violence and destruction.
As officers attempted to disperse protestors engaged in violent activity in the
Western District, two members of the media were inadvertently detained. One
journalist was released with a criminal citation, which is being recalled. One
journalist was released without any charges. The Baltimore Police Department
continues to make every effort to ensure that members of the media have
access to officers as they protect the rights of protestors to engage in peaceful
demonstration. Active scenes of violence are often confusing and chaotic. The
Baltimore Police Department apologizes for the error and will continue to make
efforts to grant media access wherever possible.
The Baltimore Police Department will continue to do everything possible to
ensure the safety of those engaged in the expression of their constitutional
rights.
As the investigation moves forward, anyone with information please contact
the Force Investigation Team 410-637-3097 or 3098.
