HHFB was created in

February of 2012 in
memory of Benjamin
James Harmon.

- Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are conditions

which are present at birth and affect how a babys
heart works.

Healing Hearts For Benjamin is funded by

Benjamin was born six

weeks pre-mature with a
Congenital Heart Defect
(Hypoplastic Right
Heart) and Down
Syndrome.

- CHD is considered the most common of all birth

defects.

Healing Hearts For Benjamin (HHFB)

Benjamin received
exceptional care and
family centered attention
while enduring multiple open heart surgeries and
procedures over a 7 1/2 month stay in intensive care
at the Childrens Hospital of The Kings Daughters
(CHKD) in Norfolk, VA,.
On February 2nd, 2012, precious baby Benjamin,
surrounded by his loving family, went home to be
with the Lord. He was 8 1/2 months old.
Benjamins life and the care he received at CHKD
inspired the Harmon family to establish the HHFB
Endowment Fund at CHKD to support Cardiac
Programs and families impacted by Congenital
Heart Defects (CHD).
Their hope is, Benjamins legacy, will be one of
Healing Hearts.

- CHD is a leading cause of birth-defect related

deaths worldwide.
- In the United States, an average of 40,000 infants
are born with a heart defect each year.
- CHD affects approximately 1.8 million families in
the United States.
- About 1 million adults in the United States are
living with CHD.
- Despite its broad spanning impact, a relatively
small amount of funding is currently available for
parent/patient educational services, research, and
support of CHD.

by CHD.
