MARKET REVIEW AND DAILY NEWS UPDATE

Index

The market closed down for the day on the back of LKR 593 mn turnover. Foreigners were net sellers for
the day, while foreign participation accounted for 27% of the day's turnover. There were no crossings for
the day.

Sri Lanka sovereign rating remains unchanged at 'BB-' - Fitch - Fitch has maintained its soverign
ratings for Sri Lanka at 'BB-' due to the following factors; Orderly and peaceful political transitions, though
there has been uncertainties about the timing and outcome of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Favorable GDP growth, Sri Lanka has posted a strong economic growth of 7.5% (five year average)
exceeding the BB median of 3.9%. Falling oil prices and increase in remittances and tourism earnings to
help the current account deficit. Expectations of rebuilding international reserves to USD 10bn by end of
2015 through mixed source of borrowings from capital markets and onshore borrowing through Sri Lankan
Development bonds. However Fitch has identified potential risks in domestic political uncertainty and an
adverse shift in investor sentiment that had lead Sri Lanka to abort plans to borrow in international capital
markets in 1Q2015.
