MICROSOFT WORD

Microsoft Word is a full featured word processing program which can be


Used for any work involving creating and managing text. You can use it from
the simplest to the most complex of word processing applications. Using Word,
you can write letters and reports, prepare bills and invoices, and prepare Office
Stationary-Letters heads, envelopes, forms, etc., design brochures, pamphlets,
newsletters, magazines, etc.Version used by students are MS Office 2003, MS
Office 2007, MS Office 2010.logos of these versions are:-

FEATURES OF MS WORD

Document creation:- Basically two types of files can be created,


document and Non document.

Save: - Document saving is easier. Files can be stored while working and
also after work is finished.

Scrolling:- Moving text up and down or sideways is the function of


scrolling.

Color: - Colors can be used for text and for background.


Graphics: - Clip art can be used and also files can be imported from other
packages.

The first method is:

Click on Start button.


Take pointer to Program menu.
Click left button on Microsoft Office.
Click left button on MS-Word option.

RIBBON: - Below the Title bar, there is another bar known as RIBBON.
There are 7 tabs. When you point to any tab and click once with the mouse,
the tab will open, displaying all the commands available under this ribbon.

RULER:- The Ruler lets you make changes to margins and intents, and
helps you to create documents as per dimensions required.

STATUS BAR:- Also called the Status Area, this is normally the last
line of your screen.
It consists of number of pages, number of words, current page.
It appears at bottom.
If we want any change then click right button on it.

TEXT AREA: - The area that is used to write text, character, symbols.
SCROLL BAR: - These help you travel within your document. You can
also go anywhere up and down, right and left in your document by:

RAND FUNCTION
It is used to add some sample text.
Rand function without argument
SYNTAX: - =rand ( ) then press enter button
EXAMPLE: - =rand ( ) then press enter button
On the Insert tab, the galleries include items that are designed to coordinate
with the overall look of your document. You can use these galleries to insert
tables, headers, footers, lists, cover pages, and other document building
blocks. When you create pictures, charts, or diagrams, they also coordinate
with your current document look.
You can easily change the formatting of selected text in the document text
by choosing a look for the selected text from the Quick Styles gallery on the
Home tab. You can also format text directly by using the other controls on
the Home tab. Most controls offer a choice of using the look from the
current theme or using a format that you specify directly.
To change the overall look of your document, choose new Theme elements
on the Page Layout tab. To change the looks available in the Quick Style
gallery, use the Change Current Quick Style Set command. Both the Themes
gallery and the Quick Styles gallery provide reset commands so that you can
always restore the look of your document to the original contained in your
current template.
