MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 7-9; Luke 13
Monday, April 20
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Living Father, Loving Savior:
Nobody but you, Jesus! No one but you can free the captives. Real freedom
comes only from one placesalvation in your blood.
IT IS A FREEDOM RIGHTEOUSLY BESTOWED. Your Son is heir of all things,
so he has a right to make men and women free. Lord, I honor your righteous
justice that has secured the salvation of my family and friendsnot because you
skipped their sin, but because Jesus died for it.
IT IS A FREEDOM COSTLY PURCHASED. We proclaim it by Christs power,
but he bought it with his blood. Jesus, you will make my friends and family free,
but only by your own bondage to death. I go clear and liberated because you bore
my pain and punishment for me.
IT IS A FREEDOM FREELY GIVEN. There is nothing you ask of me by way of
preparation. You saved me just as I amwithout any help or meritby your free
grace. Do so for _________ and _________ and my other lost friends.
IT IS A FREEDOM CONFERRED FOREVER. I cannot fall into bondage again.
Satan still plots to enslave me, but if you are on my side Lord, whom shall I fear?
You are mightier than the world and its enticements. My own deceitful heart
harasses and annoys me, but you have begun a good work that you will make sure
to carry out (Phil 1:6).
IT IS A FREEDOM THAT HAS TO BE DISPLAYED. Help me serve you with
gratitude and with good attitude in front of the lost. Lord, what will you have
me to do today? I seek to do it for Jesus sake and by his power. Amen.
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 13-15; Luke 15
Wednesday, April 22
Luke 1:53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty
Prov. 25:4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for
the finer.
Divine Father:
Today I adore you for your ways with me. Sometimes you put me into the
furnace. You are a refiner unto me, and the fire is meant to destroy my sin, and
so I thank you for it. I praise you for your wisdom and love in all the acts of
discipline you subject me to, because you are my Father. I thank you for not
allowing me to live in sin, because sin is much worse than the fire of the furnace.
The trial that burns me most is not as heavy to bear as the guilt of the sin.
Lord, if you gave me the choice to keep my sin but live in pleasure, or to have sin
burned away by trial and affliction, I choose the latter. Bring on the good pain
and the sanctified affliction; just deliver me from the influence of iniquity! Release
me from every evil habit, from the baggage of past sins, from all the dross that is
mixed with the precious metal, from anything that diminishes the brightness of
your grace in me, and from everything that keeps you from taking delight in me. I
beg you Lord, take it all away and so give me revival!
Make my life the crucible and the burning heat, just so long as you sit at the
mouth of the furnace to watch your image reflected in the resulting purity, and to
see that nothing is lost. O blessed Lord, help each of your children who are
taking the heat just now. Enable us all to look up and see you near, watching,
because then we can feel completely at peace. If I am in your hands, then all
things are wellreally well, and I need not anxiously worry.
Give me exactly that view of my trials and troubles today. Make me see
themand even appreciate themwhen I watch them in the light of your glory
being produced by them. Make me be just like Jesus. For his sake do it! Amen.
Psa. 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Almighty Lord and Mighty Master:
Enable us, by your grace and the assistance of your Spirit, to sweep our
community clean of crime, of unbelief, and of superstition. Make our church a
way station on the underground railroad out of bondage to sin. Deliver our
relatives and friends out of the drunkenness and ignorance they live in. We want
the whole earth to be able to behold the brightness of your coming. Make them
ready for your reign Jesus, by now freeing them out of sins power.
Father, save any in our church this Sunday who have so far remained
unreconciled to you through your Son. Touch even today some careless heart
with your sacred finger, and stir it alive to your sacrifice for sin. Touch now!
Touch them even if they only come to our church out of curiosity. Lay your hand
on their heart to impart a spiritual gift. May their conscience say, I must have
Jesus!
And oh, give us the power to set aside our pride and put away the sins of
the flesh. Touch our conscience and gird it with strength, so our will can submit,
and our thoughts and rationalizations can yield, and our affection and
emotions can bow, so you will reign over our hearts as well as our heads.
Subdue our rebellions to your loving dominion. Again I say,
Psa. 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Let everyone who comes to our church as an unbeliever this Sunday get
saved on that day. Let the good seeds of our witness we sow today drop into
ground that will welcome it. Point us to hearts that will water it, so from there it
can bring forth a harvest to your glory. Unto your name be the honor through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Psa. 22:7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the
head,
Dear Savior and Redeemer:
The spirit of obedience can go no further than to sit still and cling to God,
even when feeling forsaken. To still defend our confidence in God before a
mocking multitude, even when he is afflicting us, that is loyalty to the Lord.
You had to feel forsaken of God, because that is the consequence of sin
(my sin). Even though you were the Holy One, you were standing-in as the Just
for the unjust, the Christ for the criminal (I was the criminal). If you found God
forsaking you as the substitute, what must the doom of the actual sinner be!
God, I know I deserve the deepest hell at the hand of your justice. But I am
not afraid. You will never forsake me, because you forsook your Son on my
behalf. Jesus suffered to the full in my place. You are not so unjust as to require
payment at his hand, and then again at my own. Behind this brazen altar of
substitution, I am safe.
If I should ever feel like you have deserted me, let me learn from my Lords
example how to behave. If God has left me, I will not shut my Bible. No, I will
open it like the Lord did, and find a verse that just fits me. If God has left me (or
I think you have) I will not give-up on prayer. No, I will pray like my Lord did
and be more earnest than ever. If I had one anchor before, my faith will cast out
two anchors now. If I cannot call you Father, then like my Lord I will cry, My
God, and let the pronouns take their hold by faith, as seeing him who is invisible.
Bottom line: if I am ever lost, it will be at the foot of the cross!
Lord, I abhor the sin that brought such agony on you. Sin murdered Christ.
Help me not be a friend to it in this life, for Jesus sake. Amen.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan
Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
