PeripheralStatus
Thiswillappearwhenadialupconnectionisselectedoraprinterisattachedtothenetwork.ThemodemstatusisdisplayedandtheManualDialup
buttonwillappear.Afterthemodemachievesaconnection,theHangupbuttonwillappear.Ifaprinterisattached,astatusmessagewillappear.
Someexamplesofprinterstatusmessagesinclude"Ready,""Notready,""Printing",and"Deviceerror."
Toolbox
Inthisoptionyoucanchangetheadministratorpassword.Thereisnodefaultpasswordforthe4PortBroadbandRouter.Itisrecommendedthatyou
createapasswordafteryousuccessfullylogin.Ifyouchoosenottosetapasswordatthistime,youcansetoneorchangeyourcurrentoneatany
timebyclickingToolboxonthesidemenu.Thepasswordrestrictswhocanaccesstheconfigurationoptionsofthisutility.
Note:Ifatanytimeyouforgetyourpassword,unplugthepowersupply.PressinandholdtheRESETbutton.WhileholdingtheRESETbutton,plug
inthepowersupply.Whenthe4PortBroadbandRouterhaspoweragain,continuetoholdtheRESETbuttonuntiltheSYSTEMLEDbeginsflashing.
Thiswillresetthe4PortBroadbandRoutertothefactorydefaultsettings.
TheCloneMACbuttonisusefulwhenyourISPbinds(orlocks)yourconnectiontoaspecificMACaddress.CloningtheMACaddressallowsyouto
reassigntheMACaddresswithoutregisteringitwithyourISP.SomeISPsrequirethatyouregistertheMACaddress.
TheViewLogbuttonwillallowyoutoseetheactionhistorylogforthe4PortBroadbandRouter.

YoucanalsoobtaininformationaboutthefirmwareversionandtheWAN'sMACAddressinthisarea.Gotowww.usr.com/supporttolookforany
firmwareupgradesforyour4PortBroadbandRouter.Ifanewfirmwareupgradeexistsforthe4PortBroadbandRouterandyouhavedownloadedit,
clickFirmwareUpgradetoapplythenewfirmwareversiontoyourdevice.
PrimarySetup
ThisoptiondisplaystheconnectionmethodoftheWANport.Whenyouareusingadialupconnection,theusernameandpassworddialogboxeswill
beshownhere.
1. LANIPAddress:ThedefaultIPaddressis192.168.123.254.Itisnotrecommended,butyoucanchangeittofityourneeds.Ifyouchangethe
LANIPaddress,youshouldwritedownthenewaddress.Ifyouforgetthenewaddress,youwillhavetoresetthe4PortBroadbandRouter
andyouwillloseallyourconfigurationsettings.
2. WANType:ThisoptionallowsyoutoselecttheWANconnectiontypeofyourISP.The4PortBroadbandRouterissettoDynamicIP
Addressbydefault.ClickChangetochooseoneofthefollowingfiveoptions:
StaticIPAddress:ThisoptionisusedifyourISPhasassignedyouastaticIPaddress.
DynamicIPAddress:ThisisusedtoobtainanIPaddressfromyourISPautomatically.
DynamicIPAddresswithRoadRunnerSessionManagement:ThisisaspecialisedWANtypesetting.
PPPoverEthernet:SomeISPsrequiretheuseofPPPoEtoconnecttotheirservices.ThisisgenerallyusedforDSLconnections.Contact
yourISPformoreinformation.
PPTP:IfyouuseDialUpNetworkingandaVPNadapter,youaremostlikelyusingaPPTPconnection.
DialupNetwork:ThisoptionisusedifyouwanttoconnecttotheInternetthroughananaloguemodemorthroughanISDNTA.

TheDHCPserverofthe4PortBroadbandRouterissettoEnablebydefault.ThesettingsoftheTCP/IPenvironmentincludeIPaddress,Subnet
Mask,Gateway,andDNSconfigurations.IftheDHCPserverofthe4PortBroadbandRouterisenabledandyouconfigureyourcomputerstoobtain
anIPaddressautomatically,yourcomputerwillautomaticallyloadtheproperTCP/IPinformationprovidedbythe4PortBroadbandRouter.The
settingsofDHCPserverincludethefollowingitems:
DHCPServer:Youaregiventwooptions:DisableandEnable.
RangeofIPAddressPool:Wheneverthereisarequest,theDHCPserverwillautomaticallyallocateanunusedIPaddressfromtheIPaddress
pooltotherequestingcomputer.YoucanspecifythestartingandendingaddressoftheIPaddresspool.

TheFixedMapping...buttonwilllaunchtheMACAddressControlscreen.ThisallowsyoutocontrolthemappingoftheMACaddressesandIP
addresses.YoucanalsocontrolwhichMACaddressisallowedtoconnecttothisdevice.Withinthisscreen,youcanenableordisableMACAddress
Control,selectordeselectConnectionControl,anduseaclient'sMACaddresstoassignanIPaddress.EachconfigurationhasanIDnumber
associatedwithit.Thisfunctioncanbeusedforamaximumof32clients,sotheIDrangeisfrom1to32.
VirtualServer
The4PortBroadbandRouter'sNAT(NetworkAddressTranslation)firewallfiltersoutunrecognisedpacketstoprotectyourhomenetwork.Allhosts
behindthisfirewallareinvisibleexternally.EnablingtheVirtualServerMappingwillmakesomeofthehost'sportsaccessible.TheVirtualServer
functionisalsoknownasportforwarding.
TheVirtualServerfunctionismadeupoftwocomponents:anIPaddressandaserviceport.Allrequeststothisportwillberedirectedtothe
computerthatisspecifiedbytheServerIP.
Portforwardingsetsuppublicservicesonyournetwork.WhenInternetusersmakerequeststoaspecificportinyournetwork,the4PortBroadband
Routerwillforwardthoserequeststotheappropriatecomputer.ThecomputermustbeconfiguredtoastaticIPaddresstouseportforwarding.Port
forwardingisgenerallyusedtosetupaWebserver,ftpserver,oremailserveronyournetwork.Somewellknownservicesareincludedinapre
definedlist.

1. EntertheportnumberandtheIPAddressoftheserverthatyouwanttoallowInternetuserstoaccess.
2. Configureasmanyentriesasyouwantuntilalltheentriesarefilledin.
3. ClickApplyinordertosavethesettings.
Forexample,ifyouhaveanFTPserver(port21)at192.168.123.1,aWebserver(port80)at192.168.123.2,andaPPTPVPNserverat
192.168.123.6,youneedtospecifythefollowingvirtualservermappingtable:
SpecialApplications
Someapplicationsrequireopenserviceports,suchasInternetgames,videoconferencing,Internettelephony,andothers.Theseapplicationscannot
workwithapureNAT4PortBroadbandRoutersincealltheportsareblockedbydefault.Thisisaresultofthe4PortBroadbandRouter'sNAT
firewallfunction.SpecialApplicationswillallowsomeoftheseapplicationstoworkwithaNAT4PortBroadbandRouter.IftheSpecialApplications
stilldonotallowanapplicationtofunctioncorrectly,refertotheDMZhostoptioninthe"MiscellaneousItems"sectionofthisGuide.
Trigger:Thisistheoutboundportnumberthattheapplicationassignedfirst.
IncomingPorts:Whenthetriggerpacketisdetected,theinboundpacketstothespecifiedportnumberareallowedtopassthroughthefirewall.
Enable:Thismustbeselectedinorderforaspecialapplicationporttobeactivated.
ThisproductprovidessomepredefinedsettingsinthedropdownmenuonthebottomoftheWebPageInterface.SelectfromthePopular
applicationsdropdownmenu,selectanID,andclickCopytocopyapredefinedsetting.
Note:Onlyonecomputercanuseaspecificportnumberatatime.
AccessControl
AccessControlallowsyoutoassigntheaccessrightsforeachuser.First,youmustdivideusersintodifferentgroups,asidentifiedbytheirIP
addresses.YoucanassignthemembersofGroup1,2,and3.TheothersareallmembersoftheDefaultGroup.Second,youmustassigntheaccess
rightsofeachgroup.TheaccessrightscaneitheralloworblockuserstoaccessspecifiedTCPandUDPports.Forexample:

IPAddressofDMZHost:TheDMZ(DemilitarisedZone)HostisacomputerthathasallexternalInternettrafficforwardedtoit.Thisallowsa
computertobeexposedtounrestrictedtwowaycommunication.Thisfeatureshouldbeusedonlywhennecessary,sinceitremovesthesecurityof
theNATfirewall.
RemoteAdministratorHost:Ingeneral,onlyintranetuserscanbrowsethebuiltinWebpagestoperformadministrationtasks.Thisfeatureenables
youtoperformadministrativetasksfromaremotehost.Whenthisfeatureisenabled,onlythespecifiedIPaddresscanperformremote
administration.IfthespecifiedIPaddressis0.0.0.0,anyhostcanconnecttothe4PortBroadbandRoutertoperformadministrationtasks.Whenthis
featureisenabled,theWebportwillbeshiftedto8080.
AdministratorTimeout:Thisallowsyoutosetatimeperiodofinactivitybeforeanadministratorwillbeautomaticallyloggedout.
DiscardPINGfromtheWANside:Whenenabled,thiswillcausethe4PortBroadbandRoutertoautomaticallydropanypingrequestsfromoutside
theLANwithoutreplying.
NonstandardFTPport:ThismustbeconfiguredifyouwanttoacessanFTPserverwhoseportnumberisnot21.Ifyourebootyour4Port
BroadbandRouter,youwilllosethissetting.
MACAddressforWakeonLAN:WakeonLANisatechnologythatenablesyoutopowerupanetworkeddeviceremotely.Inordertousethis
feature,thetargetdevicemustbeWakeonLANenabledandyouhavetoknowtheMACaddressofthisdevice.ClickWakeupandthe4Port
BroadbandRouterwillsendawakeupframetothetargetdevice.
