REFLECTION

In this semester, every PISMP January 2013 intake students are required to take
EDU 3053 course. For this course, we were given a task which is to develop a web-based
interactive multimedia learning package. The due date for this task is within a month.
We were given a briefing by Madam Ngau Chai Hong about our tasks. The theme
given was a free-theme because our lecturer wanted us to focus more on the interactive
multimedia learning package and we can also use it as one of the learning aids in our
learning package. But first of all, we must come out with a story line and story board. At first,
I just wrote the ideas on a piece of paper to get the rough idea of the content. I started to
download videos on Youtube that were suitable to be inserted in the video. Having
experiences in using Windows Movie Maker back then, I chose to use the same software to
edit my video.
I checked on students textbook and I decided to make a learning package for Year
Two pupils under the theme World of self, family and friends. Under Unit Five entitled I am
Special, the unit covered on the topic of Parts of Body. Firstly, I must create a folder to keep
all the files such as pictures, videos and audios used in the webpage. Six important pages
that I put in my webpage were Home, About Me, General Information, E-learning, video and
Last Word from the Author. In About Me, we were required to write about ourselves,
introducing the owner of the webpage. In General Information, I put the objectives of creating
and publishing the webpage and other things that were related to the question of this
assignment. User guide were also included in this section. Moving on to the next task, I
created a page that contains the E-learning. In this page, I also included the objectives of
learning, students level of proficiency, moral value implied which explains on the exercises I
created. We were taught on how to create the e-learning by using Courselab as this
application is much easier to be used in order to create a learning package.
The learning package that I created can be used as an aid for students of different
level of proficiency which are advanced, intermediate and low level of students. One of the
exercises included in the learning package is crossword puzzle where students were given
pictures they must fill the body parts and if they were not able to do so, they were assists
with hints. In matching exercises, the students were required to match the function of body
parts with type of body parts. In multiple choice questions, students must answer the
questions based on the poem provided. There are also exercises where students were

required to rearrange the letters to its correct sequence to create a word which is type of
body parts.
This is my first time creating and producing a webpage. There were several problems
I had to overcome in order to complete this task. The problem that I encountered in finishing
the task is that after I save my e-learning package, I cannot play the e-learning package as I
think it has something wrong with my laptop. After I tried using my friends laptop, I can be
played. I think that my Internet Explorer is not compatible with my e-leaning package. It was
making me frustrated because I wasted a lot of time and I started one step late in creating
the webpage. Then, I tried to consult my friends regarding to my laptop issue but even if they
were willing to help, they too were busy with their own webpage. Jumping from one laptop to
another laptop, I asked for help and thankfully Nur Ain Syafinaz was the one who played a
major role in saving me from my darkness time. I borrowed her laptop to burn my e-learning
package into a CD.
Another problem that I encountered was the difficulties of unsuitable templates. Due
to my interest to a certain colour, I downloaded several templates but after the hardship of
editing the code, the template cannot be displayed on the webpage. Thus, I decided on
using a simple template on the courselab and I had to edit everything all over again. But it
was all worth it seeing how the webpage displayed just the way I wanted it to be and the
most important matter is that the e-learning; the exercises were present and can be used
perfectly.
We also had to present our e-learning package in front of our lecturer and other
classmates and during the presentation, I found out that my font is not the same as I set
earlier. It is because I had used a downloaded font that is not available in other laptop. So
the font is different from what I used earlier. Apart from that, after the presentation, some of
my friends said that my e-learning package is interesting and very suitable to be used in
Year 2 students. I received a positive comment saying that my e-learning package is very
interactive and it is user-friendly. I am very happy to see such a positive comments from my
friends.
Although there are so many problems and obstacles encountered during the period
of completing these tasks but I also gained and learnt new things. The benefits I gained
throughout these experiences is that I can now produce my own webpage which consist of
learning package by using several simple software. This experience is good for a future
teacher like me to develop an interactive learning so that the students will not be bored with

traditional way of learning which is by copying down the exercises that was written by their
teacher on the black board. There are also immediate response provided in the learning
package and this helps to reduce teachers works from moving on one student to another
only to check on the their answer. Other benefit that I gained is that I used a lot of critical
thinking skill in completing this task.
In conclusion, technology proves to be very useful and as a future teacher it is very
important to be a technology savvy. Teacher must be one step ahead than students. All
these software and applications can be used in planning a lesson and helps to engage
students' attention and at the same time assist on students comprehension of the topic
better.
