In Hebrew it reads: akove lev makole deceitful is the heart
Akove is the same root that is found in the name
Yakov or better known as Jacob that means heel
catcher or schemer. In the story of Jacob we read
about a man who deceived his father by acting to be
his brother in order to attain the possession of his
brothers birthright. The heart is just as deceitful in
putting on a disguise and acting in a way in order to
conceal the truth and to deceive others. We put on
masks to hide our true motives and mislead others by
the deception that is seated within our hearts. We
sometimes tell the facts in such a way so that we look like the innocent victim and the
other party is portrayed as the bad one. All of this craftiness comes from our evil
hearts and we need to be aware of this flaw inside every one of us. Everybody have
a deceitful heart and our hearts are a mess, that is why we need YHVH to expose
our hearts so that we can see what is our true motives or conviction so that we can
change.

To illustrate this more clearly, lets use the example on the Sabbath. Some believers
believe to keep the Sabbath and others believe to keep the Sunday and others
believe you can keep any day. When you, as a Sabbath keeper, see these people
not observing the Sabbath, your deceitful heart judges them and you feel more
righteous than them. You see them as unrighteous and you elevate yourself above
them because you are right and they are wrong. Shame on you! Your heart dress
you up (just like Jacob) to be proud and you judge and accuse people around you.
When you see fellow believers doing the Sabbath, but they do not do it exactly as
you, you lift the eyebrow and make a comment about them doing it wrong or
compromising. Shame on you!
On the other hand if believers are not convicted to do the Sabbath their hearts rise up
and produce logic why they do not keep the Sabbath. Their hearts produce logical
reasoning why they can excuse themselves from doing YHVHs Word or it dress
them up in pride and holiness to look down on those who do not have their
conviction. Both of these attitudes are wrong and spring forth from a deceitful heart.

Who can know your deceitful heart? Only someone who stands on the outside and
have a clear view of what is right and what is wrong, only YHVH can do this. The
word used for reins or innermost thoughts is the same word used for kidneys and
they are the seat of your desire YHVH knows what lies behind your thoughts and
your desires.
Satan is very creative and come up with logic that takes its seat in your heart. What
is the desire that lies behind the logic you adopt? Your desires come from your
deceitful heart and cause you to reason in a certain way. It is the ground for Satan
to sow his seed and when the seed brings forth fruit, you will be convinced by this
logic to defend your behaviour.
YHVH judges a man according to his path and the fruit of his deeds. Note that it is
not according to his deeds that he will be judged, but by the fruit of his deeds will he
be judged. Why is this? You might do a small thing that is wrong, but there might be
eyes watching you. Your kids will see what your do and will follow in your example.
Other believers or even unbelievers may be watching you and will justify their actions
based upon yours and you may cause them to stumble. You as a parent or a leader;
people do not do what you say but will do what you do. Lead by example. Remember
this always! You as a leader or a parent will get a greater judgement because your
actions directed the behaviour of your children and of others you lead and you will be
judged by this fruit.
Fruit comes from a seed that is a very small thing. The seed might be a good deed
or a mitzvot that you sow in someones life that can cause the persons walk.
Overcome the bad by doing good and always operate in the opposite spirit to break
the bad cycle caused by a deceitful heart.

Is the way you interpret the Scripture the right way or are you misled by your deceitful
heart that bias you to one side of the Truth and skew your believes in one or the
other direction. A good example of this is back in the time of the Civil war in America
where the majority of the people were Christians and knew their Bibles. North went to
war against the South and everybody thought they were doing it according to
Scripture. The North did not believe in slavery and emphasize the New Testament
verses that said that we are set free in Messiah. The South believed in slavery and
based their believes on the Word where it tells you to treat your slaves well. Both
sides saw this in Scripture and thought YHVH was in their corner and supporting their
actions. Why is it that these two groups who both claim that they got their views from
Scripture be so wrong? Both used examples in Scripture and interpreted to suit their
view. How can I know that through my deceitful heart that I will interpret Scripture
correctly? How do I know my theology is correct?

Paul went to Berea and taught the Word and revealed the Messiah from the
Scriptures to them. The people of Berea received the Word with openness and
eagerness BUT they also examined what they heard daily, comparing it to the
Scripture to see if it was so. They were noble minded and the Greek word for noble is
eugenes that is where we get the word eugenics from that means a good breed.
These people were noble and well bread. What made them of a higher standard?
They were eager to embrace a message that sound beautiful and sound good, but
they searched the Scriptures to see it was the truth. This is the ideal, this is where we
must aim to be, but we sometimes find our selves in one of two extreme categories.
On the one hand we get people that will receive EVERYTHING that
sound good to them. They will hear something and receive it, hear
something else and receive that, without checking if it harmonise with
Scripture and they will be blown to and fro by every doctrine, Paul
warned us against this in Eph 4:14. We can chase the wrong things
for the wrong reasons and end up unstable and confused.
On the opposite of this extreme we find people
that will only hear things they already believe.
They are not teachable and will only receive
things that will confirm their rigid doctrines they believe. These
people will never learn anything new and it is very hard for
them to filter out the lies they believe.
Our attitudes should not be either of these extremes, we should want things that are
the truth and change if we find it. We must want to know more about what YHVHs
will is, attain it at any cost, check it against Scripture, and change accordingly.

Messiah promise that His Spirit will lead us in all truth, He will not make you or drive
you to believe it, you have to look for it and your heart must be teachable and have
the right motives to filter out false good sounding false doctrine. It is still your
responsibility and choice weather you will accept it or not. Get into the habit to
exercise the Word on a daily basis, then you will be like the Bereans and stay eager
and pure before YHVH our Father.

There are two types of judging; the first way to judge is

seen in the Book of Judges where YHVH appointed
Judges or Leaders who judged the people or lead the
people. Solomon is a good example of such a Judge
where he used his wisdom to sort out any disputes. The
other type of judging is when you elevate yourself and
you decide I am right and you are wrong, based upon
your own understanding. What is wrong with the second
type of judging? You are not appointed as a leader over
that brother to make decisions or declarations of what is right and what is wrong. It
can only be an appointed judge or leader, that is independent, that can judge
between two parties to assist in sorting out the issue or setting something straight.
When you have an issue AND you judge, the setup is wrong because you are not a
outsider, but are involved and will swing the verdict in your favour and might
pervert the outcome or the truth. Can I judge my brother? Only if you are appointed
by YHVH as a leader over him and you are not personally involved in the argument
or dispute that needs resolving. When you have an opinion and your brother have a
different opinion and you disagree or have a dispute over it, you should seek the
wisdom of someone independent or search the Scripture together to see the what
YHVH says about the issue.

When you see someone doing something that is not Scriptural, what thoughts go
through your mind? You think they are wrong and I am right, look at them how
they do itthey compromise Your deceitful heart elevates your self to a higher
level than your brother and you judge him and you compare your actions against
his actions and this makes you feel more righteous. This is the wrong way of
perusing righteousness; you should compare yourself with the Word and not with
your brother. The Word is like a mirror where you see your self, comparing yourself
with the Messiah allowing His Spirit to change you.

When you see your brother do something wrong, pray for him and ask YHVH to
change his heart or go to your brother in love and discuss the Scripture with him so
that you can convince him of the truth. You can not judge anybody and you can only
be hard on yourself. It is better to worship on the wrong day with the right spirit than
to worship on the right day with the wrong spirit. Think about it. You can not be the
accuser or the judge of your brothers and sisters in Messiah.

Those two positions have already been taken, Satan is the accuser of the brethren
and Yshua is the Judge, you are appointed as a Servant of your Master Yshua and
you serve your brethren in love as He commanded. You can ONLY speak into
someones life if that person allows you or if you are appointed by YHVH to lead
people spiritually.

Massah means temptation and Meribah means quarrel or dispute. We read in

Hebrews 4 where the writer is teaching from thee passages:
$

,
Today if you hear His Voice, do not harden your hearts as in Massah and Meribah.
Israel was in the palm of YHVHs hand and He led and protected them but they
complained when they were tested. They had the faith to leave Egypt but did not
have enough faith to go into Canaan and a generation had to die because they did
not believe. We see the same thing today where there are a lot of Reborn Believers
who came form bondage and through the Blood of the Lamb, but they are spiritually
dead.
All believers have left Egypt (sin & bondage) by grace through faith but not all have
the love and obedience to continue on the road to Canaan. This road is not a choice
like leaving Egypt, it is a tough road through the Wilderness full of tests, trials and
tribulations to expose your deceitful heart?
We see two things from Ps 95; the flock in YHVHs hand and a warning to this flock
not to harden their hearts as they are led by the Fathers hand. What is interesting is
that YHVH tested Israel and they also tested YHVH. Is this not what a relationship is
made of; testing of both parties to bring out the real character of each person? By
Israel testing YHVH they got to know a side of Him they would have never thought
existed and He tested them to expose the deepest parts of their deceitful hearts.

One example of a relationship that is tested is the relationship between parents and
their children. Isnt your children the ones you love more than anybody on this earth
and arent they the ones that make you the angriest and that test you to the extreme?
Their deceitful hearts test your love and patience; His people tested Him the same
way. The punishment for Israel was not to enter into His Rest, His Sabbath. Some
people think that entering into His Sabbath is a punishment in it self. Heb 4 compares
the Sabbath to eternal life and is the reward for enduring in faith through lifes trials
and tribulations.

The labour is the where we have to stand in faith through trials and tribulations where
our hearts are being tested so that we can be ready to enter into the Promised Land
also called His Rest. This concept of Salvation is compared to the Rest or Sabbath
of YHVH, which is the state YHVH experienced before creation as well as on the
seventh day of Creation. This is the state man has fallen from and where man
needs to be restored back to.

The Sabbath Rest is about spending time with your Father and having
a love relationship with Him. It is not the love and punish relationship
you sometimes experience with a rebellious child but it is a
relationship based on full submission and humility, love and trust that
is enjoyable. It is where the relationship between YHVH and yourself
has reached maturity. This relationship will also exist when you enter
His Rest or Eternal Life of which the Sabbath is a picture of.
Eternal Life = Canaan = Rest = Mature Relationship = Sabbath
I only accepted everything my father taught me once I had my own children, then
only could I understand where he was coming from and the rebellion within our
relationship totally disappeared and became a more mature relationship. It is by
having the same responsibilities as a father that you can appreciate the teachings of
your father and where your relationship with your father can grow into maturity. In the
same way YHVH give us spiritual children to look after so that it can take our
relationship with Him to the next level.
We have looked at the first type of relationship with YHVH; the
Mature Relationship. Now we will look at the second type of
relationship; the immature Relationship that relates to the journey
through the wilderness just after Israel left Egypt.
Life = Wilderness = Labour = Immature Relationship = 6 Days
A relationship between parents and their children is a good example
of an immature relationship and an example of a mature relationship
is one between a husband and his wife. The immature relationship
main purpose is to teach and to learn and the mature relationships
main purpose is intimacy and multiplication.

Have you ever dealt with a rebellious child? The basis of your relationship with that
child is based upon anger, frustration, emotion, rectifying, rebellion, spite, correction,
punishment, laying down the rules, reemphasizing the rules est. Does this sound like
the relationship YHVH had with Israel when they travelled through the Wilderness?
There is not a lot of room for love, peace, joy est. For this relationship to mature
something has to give. Either the parents give up and the child totally rebel and leave
the home with no relationship at all, or the child repents and adhere to the learning
process and become like the parents growing into a intimate relationship with Him.
This is what we see in the early stages between YHVH and Israel; they were very
immature in their relationship with Him and He had to lay the ground rules and teach
them for the love relationship to grow through trials and tests so that they could
become like Him.
A mature relationship is seen between a husband and his wife who have a good
marriage. There will be Shalom or peace in the relationship and this rest is the
environment to live out the love between the two parties. Yshua is the Groom and
we are His Bride and we need to learn the basis of a mature relationship so that the
environment may be right for us to enjoy each others love. Then we can have
intimacy in that Rest and multiply by bringing people into the Kingdom through
discipleship. They are the offspring or your children as a result of your intimate
relationship with YHVH. This cycle repeats it self with you being the parent and the
new believer being the child and through discipleship, he or she will learn the basis
of having a relationship with their Father. They will go through the Wilderness stage
of their relationship with YHVH and you have to support them. This relationship will
eventually mature over time through tests trials and tribulations and they will grow
into being the Bride stage of their relationship with YHVH. They will then experience
His Shalom and His Rest and produce offspring (new believers) through their
intimate relationship with Him and disciple them.
The six days we labour is compared to our relationship with YHVH where we are
being discipled and tested and the seventh day of rest or the Sabbath, is the time of
intimacy for mature believers to maintain their relationship with YHVH and receive so
that they can give to the people they need to disciple. It is also the time for new
believers to learn the ways of their Father and to be exposed to the higher form of
relationship with Him. It is also a time of learning and preparation so that we can be
equipped for the tests and trials of the coming week. Where are you in your
relationship with Him? Are you in a Child-Father relationship or are you in a Bride
Groom relationship with Him? To help you to find out, here are some pointers to see
where you are:

Child-Father Relationship:

Find it difficult to read the Word spontaneously have to make

yourself do it.
Do not have a set time for studying the Scripture on a daily
basis.
Have to force yourself to think on YHVHs things during the
week or even during the day. Not spontaneous.
Have a lot of your own plans and desires and want to achieve
much in this world with the help of YHVH.
Live in fear or can easily get anxious about situations.
Is not stable in your faith and changes what you believe
regularly flavour of the week, month, year.
You struggle to keep your tongue under control (slander foul language)

o
o
o

Your fruit does not always line up with your faith.

You struggle to keep your emotions under control (anger)
You struggle to live out the fruit of the Spirit (love, kindness, goodness,
patience, joy, meekness, self control.

If you have some or a lot of the attributes listed above, it does not mean that you are
not saved, it just mean that you are in a process of learning and YHVH is teaching
you through trials and tribulations to expose your deceitful heart so that you can work
on that area. If you have a lot of issues in your life you have to sort out, you will have
a lot of tests that will come your way. The best way to deal with this is through
humility and to ask YHVH to help you to overcome. He will take you from one level to
another and help you to get Egypt out of you, that is what the Wilderness is designed
for.
The main thing you can do to speed up the Wilderness process is to get yourself in a
daily routine of praying and studying the Word and making the right decisions for the
day before you start your day. For example; if you struggle with anger, ask YHVH to
help you to be patient and make a decision before your day starts that you will not
get angry or loose your temper today. This will make you conscious of your problem
and you will have greater success than just to go into the day and repent after it
happened. Remember the routine is very important and it is like training at the Gym.
You have to go there every day to see results.

Bride-Groom Relationship:
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o
o

You study the Scripture on a daily basis spontaneously

because you want to.
You think daily on YHVHs things and He is constantly in
your thoughts.
You pray continually during the day as things happen you
ask His counsel and His Will.
You are totally sold out to Him and His Will is what matters
in life. You have no great plans for yourself unless if
comes from Him.
You know that you are 100% dependant upon Him for
everything and you trust him on a daily basis.
You know your weaknesses and bring it before him every day to help you to
become more like Him.
You pry for the people who are against you and you ask for favour and
wisdom in every situation.
You forgive easily and repent quickly and understand that it can destroy your
relationship with Him.
You find the Sabbath is a delight and cannot get enough of His Word and love
to discuss His Word with other people.
You are humble and submit under His Word and do the least of the
Commandments in order to please Him.
You understand the importance of setting the right example at all times and
that you will lead or mislead people through your actions.
You are madly in love with YHVH and cannot wait for His Coming and to be
with Him.
You know YHVHs Character and know what He likes and dislikes and do
things that strengthen your relationship with Him.

In a mature Relationship with your heavenly Father, you can enter into His Rest
(Sabbath) and experience intimacy with Him that will build you up and you will
experience a love relationship with Him that will produce fruit (offspring/new
believers).
If you do not practice to enter into His Rest, you stand the risk of falling away from
being in His hand after you left Egypt, before you enter Canaan, and your
relationship with Him will never grow to maturity. Let us all fear because we all have
the potential to fall away because of our deceitful hearts. Have enough faith to hold
on and stand during the times of your immaturity until your salvation can be secured
through your love relationship and total submission unto Him and His Word.
