Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Configuration Checker

Microsoft provides a Configuration Checker utility on their SQL 2012 that validates several configuration
settings in order to determine if any incompatibilities on your current Hedberg Server.
While Hedberg Data Systems has found that this utility doesnt verify all configuration settings and
requirements needed to install or upgrade SQL Server 2012, we strongly recommend that dealers run this
on their Hedberg server before installing or upgrading to SQL Server 2012.

Prerequisites
This document assumes that you have the following items:

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard or higher Edition DVD with Service Pack 2
Note: Alternately you can copy the contents of the DVD to a local drive on your Hedberg Server.
While you can also copy the contents of the DVD to a network share, we recommend against this
due to performance.

Running the Configuration Checker

1. Logon to your Hedberg server as a domain
administrator.
2. Disable your anti-virus softwares auto-protect or
real-time protection (some software installations do
not operate correctly when this feature is turned
on).
3. Either:
Select Setup.exe from the folder where you
have copied the SQL 2012 SP2 DVD or,

Insert the SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition or

Enterprise Edition CD (disk 1) into the CD drive
on your Hedberg SQL Server. If autoplay is
turned on, the screen to the right will appear.
Note: If autoplay is not turned on you can start
the upgrade via windows explorer by running:
<CD drive>:\setup.exe

Select System Configuration Checker

which ones it failed.
If any results show as fail, click on the status line of
the failed item to view details of why it failed and
how to correct.

5. Click OK to Exit the checker and close the SQL

Server 2012 Launch page.
Repeat the configuration checker until all items
