Executive Summary
The purpose of this proposal is a fundraising event for a local charity. The event will be hosted
by a student organization at The University of Texas at Dallas and sponsored by one or more area
companies. All proceeds from the fundraising event will go to the on-campus organization and
local charity.

Background

Hearts of Dove is a non-profit student organization at the University of Texas at

Dallas. The organizations mission is to help prevent, educate, and eradicate
domestic violence and raise awareness in the community.
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, or other abusive behavior
perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It is almost never reported and often excused
or denied. It is an epidemic that affects individuals in every community, with devastating
consequences that crosses generations.
There are twenty victims of domestic violence every minute in the United States. Every year
there are three million children who witness domestic violence in their home. One in three
women and one and four men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. The most
common group affected is women between the ages of eighteen and twenty.

Proposal
We propose to hold a 5K Run and Rave for domestic violence. This
event will be held to raise awareness and money for Hearts of Dove
and the charity they support Genesis Womens Shelter. The event will
be held in October 2015, on the Saturday at the end of S.A.F.E. week,
which will be scheduled by Hearts of Dove. The run will be a purple
glow run, which will start around dusk. The rave will include
between two and four DJs, all-performing for forty-five minutes to
one hour. The event will be held on campus at The University of Texas at Dallas. The event will
be promoted by, flyers and banners at gyms and other community locations around Dallas Ft
Worth, as well as on the UTD radio and 93.3FM.

Sponsors
We will have four levels of sponsors:
1. Hearts of Gold Sponsors, these sponsors have agreed to donate over $2,500 in money and
products. Both Tom Thumb and BBC Motorsports have agreed to participate at this level.
These sponsors will get large banners with their logo on it posted along the run route to
highlight their involvement. They will also have large color logos include on the t-shirt
give to each runner and volunteer.

2. Platinum level includes sponsors that have agreed to donate over $1,000 in money and
products. Lifetime Fitness and the City of Richardson are sponsors on the level. These
sponsors will have their logo on half banners at the race to promote their involvement.

3. Premier level includes sponsors that are donating $500 in money and products. These
include Chocolate Angel.

Gold level includes sponsors that donate $50 in money and products.

Staffing Requirements
Staffing for the event include volunteers from both Hearts of Dove members and the student
body of The University of Texas at Dallas. We project that fifty to sixty volunteers will be
needed. Volunteers will be responsible for setting up for run and rave, registering runners,
handing out runner packages, selling extra items, working stations along the 5K route, checking
rave attendees, as well as cleaning up post event. Staffing will also include UTD police for
security and road closures.

Dear Friend,
We are planning our first annual Purple Glow 5K Run and Rave for Domestic Violence to be
held in October 2015 at The University of Texas at Dallas.
We are asking for monetary donations to support this event as well as donations of goods and
services. All money raised will be donated to Genesis Womens Shelter in Dallas, Texas. Genesis
provides shelter, safety, counseling, and expert services to battered women and their children.
There are four levels of sponsorship available:

Hearts Of Gold - $2,500 or more

Platinum - $1,000 to $2,499
Premier - $500 to $999
Gold - $50 to $499
If you are interested in making a donation, you can do so by using the enclosed donor envelope.
