Founded in 1954, the cole Nationale des Travaux Publics de ltat
(ENTPE) trains engineers for careers in land-use planning and land
development - civil engineering, environment, transportation,
urban planning - in the private or public sector.
The majority of the schools students are admitted by examination
following two years of preparatory classes in mathematics and physics. ENTPEs three-year curriculum leads to the degree of diplme
dingnieur de lENTPE. The school enrolls 600 students.
The faculty consists of permanent professors and researchers, as well
as a large number of visiting faculty chosen for their professional
accomplishments and expertise.

Strengths
Because ENTPE is a small school, international students enjoy individual attention. The schools housing office helps new students find
lodging near the school and take care of related requirements, such
as opening a bank account.
French as a foreign language: international students may take advantage of free courses and tutorials. Targeted courses are organized to
address specific linguistic or cultural problems.

Research
ENTPE has six internationally renowned research laboratories in geomaterials, habitat sciences, transportation economics, traffic and
transportation engineering, environmental sciences, and interdisciplinary research on cities, societies, and space. The schools research
facilities employ some 60 research scientists and a like number of
doctoral candidates.

ENTPE is located in in Vaulx-en-Velin, near Lyon, Frances secondlargest metropolitan region. The school is just 20 minutes from
downtown Lyon by bus or metro and 90 minutes from the Alps.
