ELLEPTICAL SENTENCE

(Too, so, either, neither)

The two sentence which are the same predicate nuat
different subject, we can combine them into one sentence
using yoo, so, either, neither.
In using the Elliptical sentence, we need to pay
attention to the auxiliary verb

do / does / did

1. Positive Elliptical Sentence

and + so + aux + S2
and + S2 + aux + too
Example.
My sister is a journalist
My brother is a journalist
= My sister is a journalist and so is he
My sister is a journalist and he is too

2. Negative Elliptical Sentence

and + S2 + aux + no + either
and + neither + aux + S2
Example.
Jefri is not a student
Andre is not a student
=Jefri is not a student and Andre is not either

Jefri is not a student and neither is Andre

=Luna likes jogging and so does Silvi.
Luna likes jogging and Silvi does too.
2. Im not fat.
My sisters not fat.
=Im not fat and neither is my sister.
Im not fat and my sister is not either.

The girls always meet their teacher
= The boys always meet their teacher and so do the girls.
The boys always meet their teacher the girls do too.
4. The boy cant swim.
I cant swim.
=The boy cant swim and I cant either
The boy cant swim and neither can I

They will borrow the book
=Ani will pay the book and so will they
Ani will pay the book and they will too

6. Shanti isnt beautiful.

Devi isnt beautiful.
=Shanti isnt beautiful and neither is Devi.
Shanti isnt beautiful and Devi isnt either.
7. I am single.
You are single.
=Im single and so youre
Im single and you re too
8. You met me yesterday
My teacher met me yesterday
=You met me yesterday and so did my teacher
You met me yesterday and my teacher did too
9. Nisa hasnt forgiven me
Mirna hasnt forgiven me
=Nisa hasnt forgiven me and neither has Mirna

Nisa hast forgiven me and Mirna hasnt either
