*OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
Below is a list of additional costs that have not been factored
to either option, but is needed to have an informed discussion
about the options.
REPURPOSE HIGH SCHOOL: If a decision is made to build a new school,
there is still a dire need for work to be done to the outside envelope of DHS.
If the school will not be repurposed by the school district it could be sold.
If there is no interest in repurposing it or it is not sold it could be demolished.
TEMPORARY STUDENT ACCOMODATIONS: If the high school is renovated
in place, temporary student accommodations will need to be made during
construction. Based on a two classroom modular building the cost would be
about $40,000.00 per building. 20 classrooms in 10 buildings would be
approximately $560,000.00 for a 12-month period. NOTE: It may be possible
that Lincoln could be used to educate students during the construction phase.
SITE ACQUISITION: If a new high school is built, land will need to be
purchased. Per acre costs range between $16,000 and 25,000. A decision will
need to be made determining if land should be purchased for a high school only
(50 acres) or include the possibility that all schools should be on one campus
(180 acres).
