LEARNING PLAN (How will you organize student learning in this lesson?
ACTIVATE

Students will be shown several art pieces at the beginning of

class. Small groups will discuss the form of each piece. The
teacher will then show the large group that each piece of art pours
water. This will activate the students interest because the lesson
will open by the teacher explaining how these are examples of
hidden teapots.
ACQUIRE & APPLY

1. Discussion/Lecture:
Large group openly discuss new key terms and review
vocabulary/concepts with handout and by writing/drawing them on
the board. Refer to examples that they viewed at the beginning of
class. Explain how techniques can be used to engage a viewer.
Have them fill out a Graphic Organizer so that they can write or
draw pictures of tools, techniques, thoughts, and ideas.
2. Reflect:
Allow students a few minutes of silence so they can complete their
graphic organizers, write down/plan out/sketch their ideas, and to
reflect on what was just presented.
3. Share/Collaborate:
Break into small groups to compare each others graphic
organizers and to discuss their ideas of a hidden teapot. Small
groups will discuss the relationship between form and function.
They will be provided with prompted discussion questions (written
on the board/handout). These questions will organize their
discussion and will help them start thinking about how they are
going to create a hidden teapot.
**Use the large and small group discussion to evaluate the student
involvement and excitement. Use a thumbs up/down/middle to
gauge how well the students understand the assignment and how

enthused they are. Computers/Internet is available for further

research.
