INTRODUCTION
Filipinos have been dreaming of establishing a real aircraft manufacturing industry to locally
design, build and sell aircraft for the longest time. Unfortunately, that dream remains a
dream even after the first Filipino designed aircraft flew more than 65 years ago.
Different aircraft projects were made by the Philippine Air Force, the Institute of Science
and Technology, Goldwings Aviation and the Philippine Aerospace Development
Corporation. But, for one reason or another, they always end up as a one off project only.
It is not my intention to discuss each project here since that has already been done. Access
my scribd account to know more.
The last aircraft designed locally was made by the Philippine Aerospace Development
Corporation in 1998 called Hummingbird (a helicopter). However, the project was shelved
immediately after its maiden flight.
Today, I am proposing to design and build the Genesis the new generation Filipino
aircraft. This has been initiated for the Filipinos to rediscover the fascinating world of
aviation.
This is not a thesis or a formal proposal. Format will be somewhat unorthodox; in fact this
may look like a journal.
If you find something wrong, if you disagree, if you have any suggestions, if you want to
contribute, if you have anything to say constructively or if you just want to say hi, please do
so, my email address is written in the front page.
I may rewrite and/or update whatever is already written here as I see fit from time to time.
Updates will be made in random times.

II.

WHAT IS GENESIS?
A dictionary is your friend if you do not know the meaning of the word. But to save you
time, Genesis means the beginning.
I named this aircraft project Genesis, hoping to establish a new beginning for the Philippine
aviation industry. Where Filipino aero engineers will be inspired again to explore the
unknown, be creative and build what their heart desires. There will be disappointments but
that is part of the learning curve. Never give up. Aim high and fly high!

Genesis is a basic trainer aircraft, two seat, side-by-side, low wing, that will be made of
composites. The photo in the front page provides an overview of how it may generally look.
The final product may look just a little different after all design considerations has been
finalized.
The Genesis will be designed and built primarily with the Philippine Air Force in mind.
Genesis will be an ab initio (meaning: beginners) training aircraft.
The air force is not the only market for Genesis. It can also be offered as a kit aircraft for
the civil operators.
I am not keen to type certificate the Genesis. The cost involve in type certificating any
aircraft are extremely prohibited. Additionally, the military doesnt need type certificated
aircraft as they are not governed by the aviation authority (e.g. Civil Aeronautics Board for
the Philippines, Federal Aviation Authority for the USA, etc.).
The Genesis, however, will be designed, built and tested as if it will be going through the
same type certification process.
This is an ambitious project, I am very well aware of that. I am envisioning and with all your
support we can make it happen. Funds for this project are not available yet, faith is what I
have. For now, we can make ourselves busy designing Genesis.

III.

OBJECTIVES
The main objective is to design and ultimately build Genesis.
I will hate to disappoint you all smart alecks, but if you are dreaming of designing and
manufacturing an advanced multi-role fighter aircraft, well, dream on. The hard fact is: It
will never happen in your lifetime (or maybe I should say in our lifetime, if that will make
you feel better). There are good reasons why only few countries are capable of designing
and manufacturing such aircraft.
The purpose of this exercise is to build confidence that Filipinos can design and build a safe
and reliable aircraft. We will start with something simple that is statistically proven, can be
easily calculated mathematically and scientifically understood. No exotic fancy shape, no
flying car, no blended wing aircraft those are big no at this time.

This program will help us build the technological knowhow, the experience; the database;
and the supports; to move on to the next level. How about a 4 seat aircraft as the next
project after Genesis sound to you? Im already excited! Above all (and you all know this
already), I have faith! I know Filipinos can do it. The key is to take one baby step at a time.
This will be a very long journey. Please join me and together lets design and build the new
Filipino Aircraft of the 21st century.

2 seat side-by-side its a trainer

Dual control sticks how can you train someone if it is single control?
Adjustable rudder pedal to accommodate different pilots height/leg length
Glass Panel nobody uses steam gauges anymore (not really but you get the idea)
Mild Aerobatic capable it will be fun
Single forward hinge canopy Im still contemplating
Carbon Fiber Composites well actually I think we should go for the E-glass composites
and save a couple of bucks. I do not have to discuss the advantages and disadvantages
of composites over aluminum; you should do your homework too. I chose composites
over aluminum construction because composites are here to stay.
Constant Speed Prop to maximize performance
All Electric Trim will you want to operate a manual trim?
Retractable Landing Gear of course
Leather Seats oh yeah
Secure cup holders a must
Airbags it makes you feel safer
Ballistic Recovery Systems (BRS) it has proven itself
3-Axis Autopilot nice!
USB outlets a necessity
Keyless entry and alarm it will be cool
Push to start button ----mm maybe
