Talking about the environment and future problems
Adverbial time clauses
Time: 50 minutes
No of students: 20
Specific competences:
1.3 desprindere informatiilor factuale dintr-un mesaj clar articulate emis cu viteza
normala;
2.2 descrierea unor locuri si persoane;
2.4 formularea unor idei/pareri in legatura cu teme familiare;
4.2 descrierea unor personae si locuri dupa un plan dat.
Aims: by the end of the lesson the stundents will be able to:
- identify the correct information in different sentences;
- listen for specific information to complete a given worksheet;
- use correctly Simple Future Tense to talk about environment and future problems;
- use correctly adverbial time clauses;
- describe how their house will be like in the future.
Methods: explanation, conversation, exercises, description.
Materials: textbook, blackboard, laptop, video projector, flipchart, big pieces of white
paper , markers, worksheets, crayons.
Interaction: whole class, individual work, group work.
Skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading.
Anticipated problems:
- some students may not understand the teacher speaking in English
- some students may be too emotional to participate at the lesson
- some groups may get stuck and may not be very creative.
Possible solutions:
- the teacher translates what she said in English
- the teacher talks to that students trying to make them feel more relax
- the teacher goes around giving indications that may spark any idea.

The T asks one or two Ss to read the homework.
The T asks Ss to listen to a song and complete the missing
words, then to underline the verbs used in Simple Future
Tense.
Ss listen to the song and complete the worksheet, then one
student read the completed song.
Anexa 1 - Song Que sera, sera Doris Day.
The T asks students to try and imagine What will life be
like? Will it be better/Will it be worse using given ideas
and Simple Future Tense affirmative and negative.
Ss work in group and write their ideas on big pieces of
white paper and then read it to the class.
T asks Ss to read the description of a house in the year
2040, from the textbook and to observe what tense is used
after WHEN, BEFORE and UNTIL.
Ss recognize the Simple Present Tense.
* if its necessary the T writes the new vocabulary on the
blackboard and give the meanings of the unknown words.
( shuttle, shuttle dock, interactive screen, spacesuit,
spaceship)
The T tells Ss that the situation they analyze its called
Adverbial Time Clause and writes on the blackboard the
rule: In the sentences introduced by When, Before and
Until, we use Simple Present Tense even that we speak
about a future situation.
e.g Before it ends, lots of people will live under the sea.
What will people do when they want to visit dry land?
They will wait until the land shuttle comes.
The teacher gives Ss a worksheet to practice Adverbial
Time clauses. Anexa 2.
T asks Ss to imagine they will live in the year 2040 and asks
them to draw their house and label it. Then Ss are asked to
write a short text about their house using the ideas from the
textbook. After they finish, Ss read the text to the class.
As homework Ss will have to complete a given worksheet
anexa 3.
