Tekla Structures - midas Gen/Civil link has been developed by Harpaceas Srl
CspFea is the Italian official partner of midas software
Harpaceas is the official distributor of midas Gen/Civil for North West of Italy
Introduction
Tekla Structures midas Gen / Civil link is a tool developed in order to speed up the time usually
required to generate structural models and to perform the phase of analysis and design.
Units
Tekla S. allows to use different units between drawing models and A&D models.
Also, the procedure works differently depending on the Merge option.
a) When Merge option is not activated
The model file is transferred considering the units defined by the user from the option
command. Nodal coordinates are updated according to the selected units.
B) When Merge option is activated
The model file is transferred considering the following input:
The units defined by the user from the option command.
When the model file is exported from midas (MGT / MCT file), unit defined in midas
model will be applied.
If the units are not identical, the units defined by the user will be applied in order to
avoid errors in load data values.
Current limitations & types of elements/objects transferred from Tekla S. to midas Gen/Civil are
shown in the table below.

Materials management
To transfer data related to material, MATEXP_MIDAS.CNV file is used. The example of file

The user can add new types of materials/sections in CNV file. It is required when the new
sections/materials are available in midas Gen/Civil.
In particular, it is important to understand which way Tekla S. transfers data for each of the
following position
Refer to the table below for which principal TWIN coupling is reported with the Cross section

At this moment, only TWIN L sections are transferred. Position 2 and 3 are supported.
All other position will be transferred as user section in midas and as undefined profiles in Tekla S.
Section offset
Midas model file can be exported to Tekla S. considering reference axis as the Barycentric axis or
default axis.
- If a Tekla S. model is exported by neutral axis, then elastic links will be created in midas model (if
the option
is selected).
- If a Tekla S. model is exported by model default, then it will be possible to see a section offset in
the midas model.
